ln 31't meeting of Senate of the lnstitute held on 06th March 2023, a decision as under was taken :

Item No. SEN-2023.31.40 Gases of PhD students older than 8 years for continuation: (a.) Md.
Moonim Lateefi, Roll No. 1421ME12 (b.) Mr. Abhyendra Prasad, Rol!
No. 142f MA05 for extension in thesis submission date.

(a.) Md. Moonim Lateefi, bearing Roll No. 1421ME12 joined the lnstitute as a full time PhD scholar in
2014. He was converted as a parttime PhD Scholar in February 2018 after getting job in Department
of Science & Technology, Government of Bihar. He has completed maximum tenure of 8 years for
thesis submission in July 2022. As per PhD regulation Clause 19.3 "The maximum duration of
PhD programme (excluding dropped semester(s) / maternity leave) is 7 years from the date
of admission for a full-time student and 8 years for an employed & part-time student."

He has sought extension of one year for submission for thesis submission from the date of extension
citing reason of his widowed sister's suffering from cancer. As on date, he has communicated one
journal paper which is under review and published three (03) conference paper with DOl.
It was proposed to allow him to continue his PhD program with new supervisor after re-registration.

(b.) Mr. Abhyendra Prasad Roll No. 1421MA05 joined llT Patna as an lnstitute Fellow on23.08.2014.
He was further converted to employed and part time PhD Scholar from 20.12.2021. As per PhD
regulation Clause 19.3 "The maximum duration of PhD programme (excluding dropped
semester(s) / maternity leave) is 7 years from the date of admission for a full-time student
and I years for an employed & part-time student." He has completed maximum tenure of 8 years
in July 2022. He has sought extension of one and half year for submission for thesis along with 6
months stay in hostel. He has also requested for change of supervisor and allocate Prof. Om
Prakash as his new supervisor.

It was proposed to allow him to continue his PhD program with new supervisor after re-registration.

The Senate authorized Academic Head of the concerned Department and Dean (Academics) to
take decision based on merit on case-to-case basts.
