Statement of Purpose

Template and Guidance

Your Statement of Purpose is an important part of your application to BPP. We use this to
understand who you are as a person, to check whether you are suitable for your chosen
programme of study and to confirm that you are a genuine and honest student.

It is very important that you put a lot of work into completing your Statement of Purpose. Please
make sure that you read all of the instructions below thoroughly to give you the best possible chance
of your statement being accepted.

Instructions

1. Please answer all of the questions in the sections of the template below.

2. We expect a minimum of 350 words per section, but please feel free to give more detail.

3. Ask a work colleague or friend to read your statement and give you advice and feedback. It
can be helpful to write your statement a few times to make sure you have made it the best it can
be.

4. Please use your OWN words – DO NOT use a temp ate or cop from an websites or
documents is is not a owed and can mean our statement wi be immediate re ected

5. You can use a spell checker, but please also read your statement through a few times to
make sure that your grammar is correct. A colleague or friend may be able to help you with this.

6. Be honest – do not exaggerate your achievements – you may be asked to go to an


interview with either BPP or a representative of the UK Home Office in regards to your visa, and
this statement would be used to help them make their decision.

7. Please make sure you complete your personal statement and send it back to us as early as
possible so we can review it for you quickly.
SECTION 1: Personal Introduction and Background
In this section, please tell us about yourself and what you have accomplished to date. Please
include the following:

What is your name and how old are you?

Where you are from?

What have you studied so far? Is there anything you have really enjoyed? If so, what did you enjoy
about it?

Where have you worked previously, and what did you do there? Did you enjoy the work? If so,
what did you enjoy about it?

Where did you learn to speak English? Have you done or experienced anything to improve your
English? If so, please tell us about this and how it helped you.

What do you like to do in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies? What interests you about
that hobby?

SECTION 2: BPP and Your Chosen Programme of Study


In this section, please explain why you decided to study with BPP in the UK, and why you chose
the course programme that you did.

What made you want to come to the UK to study? What made the UK a better choice for you than
the other countries you looked at?

Why did you choose BPP University over your other options? What made our university and
programme the best choice for you personally?

When you were making your decision, what made you choose this course over the other courses
we offer?

What parts of the course are you looking forward to/do you think will interest you the most?

Have you ever studied anything like this before? If so, why do you want to continue studying this
subject? If not, what made you want to start studying this subject?

SECTION 3: Your Future Career


In this section, please tell us what you want to do in the future, and how studying this course at
BPP in the UK would help you achieve that goal.

What job do you want to do in the future?

What does this course offer that will help you attain that role?

How will studying this course at BPP and in the UK help you in that role?

What skills does this job require that studying here would help you develop?
