IFB3 Specifications

1.3 Commissioning
Commissioning the IFB3 does not require any special preparations apart from charging the
battery. If there is no communication in spite of a fully charged battery, the remote control has to
be adjusted to the test lane (see section 3 “Service Menu“).
To charge the 6 V battery use the charging set supplied. Initial charging requires approx. 24 h.

The charging process is indicated by a red LED on 11"/6

the charging set.

In addition, the message opposite appears on the ")+$ %/$"!
display.

When not in use, the remote control should always be kept in the charging set to avoid a total
discharge of the battery. The charging set is equipped with an overcharge protection. The
charging time for a totally discharged battery is approx. 12-14 hours.
Under normal operating conditions the battery has a service life of several years. However, at
lower temperatures this period may be considerably reduced.
If the remote control is kept out of the charging set for a longer period of time, this will result in
self-discharge. After approx. 4-6 months the battery will be totally discharged.

1.4 Display
The display serves to indicate the keyboard status and the pedal force values. These can be
measured by means of a pedal force meter during the brake test.

2.5 Remote Control Adjustment

If the remote control is adjusted inexactly, or if another pedal force meter is connected, a
correction factor must be entered in variable 5.
Example:

1 The pedal force meter is loaded with a known "!( ,/ "
mass (here: 30 kg). M

The value measured by the pedal force meter

appears on the display: ;8= ;8=
8 : < > @ 98
The actual pedal force value in this example should be: 30 kg x 9.81 m/s² ≈ 294 N

2 Clear the display using the Confirm key or the Delete key .
3 Calculate the correction factor as follows:
Correction factor = (Actual value ÷ Measured value) x 1000
Here:
Correction factor = (294 N ÷ 305 N) x 1000 § 964
Enter the correction factor in variable 5 to compensate the error. In this example enter
variable value "964".
4 Call up the service menu and select menu item "EE-User Variables".

5 Use to call up the user variables program. "+2"(" 1),+
