English

Esinmirin the river goddess,

Mother who saves her child from the evil of the world,
Elderly like no other,
My mother Ronbi has sent me here,
Esinmirin the goddess with many children,
You who give goodness except if not asked,
I am here this early morning - as my dead mother has placed in my heart,
I dip my left feet into your water,
This I do as a respect to your mother.

I came not alone but with a white pigeon,

I have made sacrifices against evil calamities before I left home,
I have made sacrifice and it has been accepted,
The gods of Ile-Ife has called me,
This fight of independence I am about to start, let it be accepted,
Let it be a victorious battle,
Whoever faces me shall I defeat,
The mouth the snail used to curse the gods is the same mouth he will use to come back and
praise them.

Two mountains cannot be angry at a person, if we climb one, we shall plead with the second,
You've sent me this message, you shall accompany me,
All my antagonists shall come to regret it later,
They will know that when death begins cooking, and illness washes plates, who shall fear if not
disease, This I have said, shall come to pass!

Ashe!
