MATERIAL
2 x 20 cm white zippers, sewing thread in white, light blue and dark blue
and sewing needle and scissors.
INSTRUCTIONS
PENCIL CASE
Begin by making 61 chains in Dark Blue nr. 00142 (for “Sailor” pencil case)
or Light Blue nr. 00130 (for “Flower” pencil case). (GRAPHIC A).
Row 1: Make 1 sc in second st from the hook and 1 sc in each ch until the
end. Turn the work.
Row 2: Ch 1 + 1 sc in first st; 1 sc in each st until the end.
*This will be the pencil case base. Continue working in rounds from now
on. (GRAPHIC B).
Round 3: Ch 1 + 1 sc in first st and 1 sc in each st around until the end. Join
to fist st with 1 ss to close this rnd.
Round 4: Repeat Round 3.
Round 5 (GRAPHIC C): Ch1 + 1 sc + ch1 in first st. *Skip next st and make
1 sc + ch 1 in the following st*; rep ** until the end of the rnd. Join to first
st with 1 ss. Fasten off.
Round 6: Change to White thread nr. 07901. Insert the hook under any
chain of prev rnd to take a loop, ch 1 + 1 sc + ch 1 in same sp. *Skip next
st and make 1 sc + ch 1 in next ch*; rep ** until the end of the rnd. Join to
first st with 1 ss.
Round 7: Ss in first st to begin this rnd in next ch. Ch 1 + 1 sc + ch in same
sp. *Skip next st and make 1 sc + ch 1 in next ch*; rep ** until the end of the
rnd. Join to first st with 1 ss.
Round 8: Repeat Round 7. Fasten off.
Rounds 9, 10 y 11: Change to Dark Blue nr. 00142 (for “Sailor” pencil case)
or Light Blue nr. 00130 (for “Flower” pencil case). Repeat Rounds 6, 7 and 8.
Rounds 12 to 38: Repeat Rounds 6 to 11, taking care to change color thread
every 3 rounds.
Round 39 (GRAPHIC D): Change to Dark Blue nr. 00142 (for “Sailor” pencil
case) or Light Blue nr. 00130 (for “Flower” pencil case). Repeat Round 6.
Round 40: Ch 1 + 1 sc in first st. Make 1 sc in each st and ch along. Join to
first st with 1 ss.
Round 41: Work this rnd in Reverse Single Crochet. It means single crochet
worked from left to right as follows: Ch 1, *insert the hook in the stitch
immediately to the right to take yarn over the hook, pull it to the front and
make 1 sc *; rep ** until the end of round. Join to first st with 1 ss. Fasten off.
APPLIQUES
HELM (GRAPHIC E): Beging with an adjustable ring in Red color thread
nr. 00046.

Round 1: Ch 1 and make 8 sc in the ring. Adjust the ring and make 1 ss in
first st to close this rnd.
Round 2: Ch 8 (first 4 chs count as first treble st in this rnd). *Make 1 tr + ch 4
in next st*; rep ** until the end of the rnd. Join to first st with 1 ss. Fasten off.
Change to Orange thread nr. 00330.
Round 3: Insert the hook under any arch of 4 chs of prev rnd, take yarn over
the hook and ch 1; make 4 sc in same sp. Make in next st: 1 sc + ch 4 + 1 sc
in third ch from the hook and 1 pb in fourth ch from the hook + 1 ss in first
sc. *Make 4 sc in next arch of 4 chs. Make in next st: 1 sc + ch 4 + 1 sc in third
ch from the hook and 1 pb in fourth ch from the hook + 1 ss in first sc*. Rep
** until the end of the rnd. Join to first st with 1 ss. Fasten off.
FLOWER (GRAPHIC F): Beging with an adjustable ring in Red color thread
nr. 00046 (for Orange Flower) or Pink thread nr. 00075 (for Red Flower).
Round 1: Ch 1 and make 8 sc in the ring. Adjust the ring and make 1 ss in
first st to close this rnd.
Round 2: Ch 1 + 1 incr in first st. Make 1 incr in each st until the end of the
rnd. Join to first st with 1 ss. Fasten off.
Change to White thread nr. 07901.
Round 3: Insert the hook in any st to take yarn over the hook and ch 1 + 1
sc + 1 cad in same sp. Make 1 sc + ch 1 in each st until the end of the rnd.
Join to first st with 1 ss. Fasten off.
Change to Red Velvet thread nr. 00089 (for Orange Flower) or Dark Blue
thread nr. 00142 (for Red Flower).
Round 4: Insert the hook under any chain of prev rnd to take yarn over the
hook, ch 1 + 1 sc + ch 1 in same sp. *Skip next st, make 1 sc + ch 1 in next
ch*; rep ** until the en of the rnd. Join to first st with 1 ss. Fasten off.
Change to Orange thread nr. 00330 (for Orange Flower ) or Red thread nr.
00046 (for Red Flower).
Round 5: Insert the hook under any chain of prev rnd to take yarn over the
hook and ch 3 (counted as first dc in this rnd). Make 3 dc in same sp. Skip
next st and make 1 ss in next ch. *Skip next st and make 1 shell in next ch;
skip next st and make 1 ss in next ch*. Rep ** until the end of the rnd. Skip
last st and make 2 dc in first sp in this rnd. Join to first st with 1 ss. Fasten
off.
FLOWER STEM Ch 17 in Green thread nr. 00253. Make 1 sc in second ch
from the hook and 1 sc in each ch until the end. Fasten off.
FINISH
1. Place the appliques on the pencil cases as shown in the pictures and
sew them.
2. Sew the zippers to the pencil cases top borders and tassels.
