Rocket Lab

The plan for the lab was to create an imitation of a bottle rocket that provides similar

functions. This was a way to show how trajectory and aerodynamics work in correlation with

physics laws. Equipment included several paper materials and a PVC pipe to guide. Along with tape,

the plan was to create an imitation of a bottle rocket that would fly. The end goal was to shoot the

rocket through a hoop at the end of the hallway.

The idea of the bottle rocket was simple and the lab was easy. The rocket was made

aerodynamically, with four fins and a conical head. The position of the fins and the angle of the cone

played an impact on where the rocket went. The rocket launcher is designed to be adjusted to assist

the rocket's flight path. All of these factors played a role in how the rocket flew toward the hoop

when launched.

When we launched our rockets, they turned out the way they were supposed to. The first test

sent the rocket slightly to the left of the hoop. In the second test, after adjusting the launcher to aim

further right and angling the (slightly bent) conical head down so to avoid other angles, the rocket

went through the hoop. It was a good lab to show rockets, aerodynamics, and solids. This was a fun

lab!
