It’s near and dear to my heart because of the 2/4 rhythm being such a New Orleans feeling rhythm. What you have there is a 2/4 against a 4/4 feeling. A drummer could play that both ways. One of the basic elements of the New Orleans piano style is that two rhythms can go on simultaneously, one inside the other. © Professor Longhair One of the natural elements of this style is to try to set-up each chord change with a pattern that lets the listeners know a change is coming up.
