2 Safety Instructions

Chapter 9.2.3, page 41:

Attention
During installation and cabling, there should be no permanently
maintained torsional moments between the cables, plugs and the device
connector, i.e. the position of the cable connector to the device connector
should fit without twisting. ATTENTION
Due to the relatively large diameter and the close mechanical structure of
the cable, it is mandatory to support the torsional moments with an
additional fixation as necessary.

Chapter 9.4, page 43:

Attention
All variants of the cables supplied by DEUTA are described in the
appendix Chapter 16.1, page 56. These cables are build as 3 separately
shielded pairs. The RS485 interface is only connected by the signals A1 /
B1 and not by the GND signal. These cables have passed all the EMC ATTENTION
tests and this architecture can also be adopted by the customer as far as
the cable has shielded pairs with a high coverage of the shield material.
We recommend this configuration especially for battery supplied
applications.
Use only cable as described in Chapter 16.1, page 56.

Chapter 14.1, page 54:

Caution
Installation or disassembly of the DRS05/1S1# while the power supply is
connected is strictly prohibited.
Make sure that the voltage from the power cables of the device is
disconnected during all works on the DRS05/1S1#. CAUTION

3 Product Description

3 Product Description
3.1 DRS05/1S1#
[see chapter 3 and chapter 5 of the appropriate configuration description]
DRS05/1S1# measures vehicle speed over ground by using the Doppler effect.
The two antennae of DRS05/1S1# permanently emit an electromagnetic field, at
the same time receiving a portion of the waves diffusely reflected by the ground
(transceiver principle, i.e. transmitter, directional coupler, receiver). The Doppler
effect causes a frequency shift between the transmitted and the received wave,
which is proportional to the speed and dependent upon the angle. This shift is
attained as a complex term by mixing the two signals at two mixers which are
phase-shifted by 90° (rotating pointer).
Due to the fact that the transceivers hardly focus, not only a single point, but a
whole area of the ground is irradiated and can accordingly contribute to reflection.
As a measurement, therefore, an amplitude-modulated and frequency-modulated
signal results.
As both antennae form different emission angles together with the ground, two
different spectrae arise, which can be evaluated with a DSP by applying a patented
method. In this process, the intersection of the two spectrae is evaluated. This
method ensures that the speed-output signal is largely independent of the condition
of the reflecting ground and of vibrations of the train.
Two microwave modules with a transmission frequency of approx. 24 GHz (K band)
and a maximum radiated power (EIRP) of 20 dBm are installed in the
DRS05/1S1# (see Chapter 5.6.1 “Microwave transceiver module” on page 33).

5.6.2 Speed measurement

[see configuration description, chapter 9.2]

5.6.3 DOT detection

The Direction Of Travel Bit will be created by the evaluation of both antennae
signals. Though the signal integrity and the orthogonality to each other will be
proved permanently to make a statement about the travel direction and the validity.
If both antenna signals have a valid value and their phase relation is correct, then
out of it a direction declaration will be evaluated. And if additional the amount due
of the algorithm determined DOT value exeeds a software dependent threshold,
then the validity of the DOTV Bit will be set. Not until both criteria are fulfilled, a valid
direction statement will be available. By this integrity check of both signals
furthermore the certification about the accuracy of the issued speed will be derived.

8 Installation conditions

8 Installation conditions
8.1 Applicable EMC standards
For the Doppler Radar Sensor DRS05/1S1# – designed for use on rail vehicles –
are based on the following inspection specifications:

European Standard for Electrical Railways, EN50121-3-2

with the basic standards:
EN 55011 Radio disturbance characteristics; Limits and methods of
measurement
EN 61000-4-2 Electrostatic discharge immunity (ESD)
EN 61000-4-3 Radiated, radio-frequency, electromagnetic field immunity test
EN 61000-4-4 Electrical fast transient/burst immunity test
EN 61000-4-5 Immunity to powerful surges
EN 61000-4-6 Immunity to conducted disturbances, induced by radio-frequency
fields

The tolerable function impairments under the effects of interference (with respect
to the evaluation criteria in the above product standard) are:

Evaluation criterion A: Interference must not affect the recorded speed.

Correct evaluation of the output signals with suitable
test equipment is possible at all times.
Evaluation criterion B: Interference can affect the output signals, which can
lead to deviation of the speed signal from the desired
value on pulse output and serial transfer. Data
transfer of the serial interface can be incorrect. In the
operational state with a stationary vehicle,
interference can momentarily affect speed
information and pulse outputs. When the interference
stops, the machine automatically retuns to the
operating state it was in prior to the interference.
Evaluation criterion C: Not used

8 Installation conditions

8.2 Installation instructions

This section is aimed solely at trained electricians. Basic knowledge of installation,
EMC measures and safe behaviour is required.

ATTENTION / NOTE
In order to avoid malfunctions or damage, all the instructions in this sec-
tion must be complied with.

Designated operational location ATTENTION

The DRS05/1S1# Doppler Radar Sensor is designed for installation on railway
vehicles and is used for distance and speed measurement. For especial
automotive appliances under public road traffic conditions, particularly
appliances with tilting activity, consult DEUTA.

Installation conditions NOTE

The unit is installed externally on the vehicle chassis or body, shielded as much
as possible from HF emissions. Ensure that the housing is connected to the
vehicle earth; this can be done via the installation surface or by means of
earthing bolts on the unit. For the latter a metal braid with a minimum cross-
section of 4mm2 and a maximum length of 0.5m is used. The connection must
be professional and permanent.
For connection via the mounting surface, the surface beneath the fixing flange
must be such that a full electrical connection is achieved.

Wiring and signal requirements

The connection cable to the unit must be shielded, with the optical covering
grade of the braided shielding being at least 80%. Both ends of the shielding
must at least be connected to the plug casing on the unit side, using a plug
termination housing that provides EMC compliant connection with the housing:
The braided shielding must be wrapped round and inserted as far as possible
into the plug termination housing. The mating plug must have a good electrical
connection to the unit plug.
The data signals from the serial interface and from the pulse output must not
show any reference to the vehicle battery. The static inputs A (for test operation)
and B (for programming operation) should not be connected.
Note:
Please read the operating instructions carefully as the Doppler Radar Sensor is
a sensitive measuring device.

Evaluation and peripheral device requirements

All connected devices must comply with the technical specifications given in the
Operating Manual and have sufficient interference immunity for the
corresponding ambient conditions to guarantee correct function.

8 Installation conditions

Restricted operating behaviour caused by electromagnetic interferences

This resource is suitable for the electromagnetic ambient conditions as
designated in the inspection basis. A deviating behaviour from the details in the
evaluation criteria is not expected.

Scope and frequency of EMC-relevant maintenance procedures ATTENTION

(Note in acc. with §4, EMC Law)
EMC relevant maintenance measures (maintenance of EMC protective
components, term definition "maintenance", see DIN 31051, IEC60050-191)
shall not be performed. If the operating behaviour deviates from the evaluation
criteria of the base product standard, or from the listed permissible impairments NOTE
(see page 37), then the device must be checked by DEUTA and repaired, as
necessary.

General notes
To guarantee the operating quality, basic EMC measures to avoid unnecessary
interference coupling mechanisms are assumed and are therefore not
mentioned in more detail. For example, these include the selection of suitable
cables and components, professional and permanently locked connections,
sensible routing and arrangement of lines, observance of possible potential
differences, if necessary, the shortest possible connections, isolation of critical
signal groups, clearance to sources of interference, etc.

the first commissioning with support from DEUTA engineers.

INFO

9.2 Installation Regulations

9.2.1 Mounting
By a deviation from the horizontal at the mounting position a failure of 1.8% per
degree can occur.

[see further information in Chapter 9.3 of the appropiate configuration

description]
Therefore the mounting surface at the car body should be measured one-time by
using an inclinometer. The hereby ascertained deviation will be adjusted by an
unique entry of an calibration factor into the system environment. A re-adjust by an
exchange of DRS05/1S1# caused by maintenance, etc. is not necessary, as long
as the mounting position does not subject to mechanical changes.
The DRS05/1S1# is mounted underneath the car body using a rugged and
vibration-free steel plate. This plate should be mounted 500 mm to 1000 mm above
the reflecting ground and aligned horizontally. The sensor is fixed by at least
4 screws (M8). The bore pattern is 100x118 mm with holes of min. 8.4 mm diameter
(see Figure 4/3, Top view, on page 26).

P. 40
4AB1073/G-EN
Operating Manual DRS05/1S1# 72 P.
059101073G 161108
9 Installation

The sensor shall be mounted at a position, where the rail fixing screws are inside
the footprint of the both antennae (see Figure 9/4, page 45). It is very important that
there are no obstacles or moving or vibrating objects inside the two antennae
beams.

INFO
It is important to observe that this also applies under the different
environmental conditions (for example, to make sure that no snow or ice
layers develop under winterly weather conditions, which extend into the
emission cone). INFO

The earth stud must be connected to the train ground through a braided earthing
strap.
The connection cable must have separately shielded twisted wire pairs and a total
shield with a minimum optical coverage of 80%. The cable must be attached in
such a way as to prevent vibrations and strong bending forces. The plug-type
connector is protected against reverse polarity and is locked by a bayonet.

9.2.2 Connecting the Sensor

Connection of the radar sensor is realized via a special cable (see chapter 16.1,
page 56) and a plug provided with a Tinel lock-shielding connection system. This
system guarantees a 360° connection of the cable shielding with the plug housing.
This guarantees excellent HF properties and the compliance of the corresponding
EMC-protection regulations.

9.2.3 Cable terminal

Appropriate clearance must be provided for in installation planning for connecting
the EZ154x cable. If a cable with angled connector is used, clearance of at least
120 mm must be provided (see Figure 9/4, Installation dimensions, on page 45); for
a straight connector clearance of at least 170 mm + bending radius must be
provided. In planning and assembly the minimum bending radius (see
chapter 16.1, page 56 et sqq.) must always be complied with.

ATTENTION
All variants of the cables supplied by DEUTA are described in the
appendix chapter 16.1, page 56 et sqq. These cables are build as 3
separately shielded pairs. The RS485 interface is only connected by the
signals A1 / B1 and not by the GND signal. These cables have passed all ATTENTION
the EMC tests and this architecture can also be adopted by the customer
as far as the cable has shielded pairs with a high coverage of the shield

10 Commissioning and system parameters

10 Commissioning and system parameters

10.1 Configuration
The device is delivered completely configured. No further adjustments are
necessary.
After the device has been electrically connected correctly (see chapter 9.2
“Installation Regulations” on page 40) it is immediately ready for use.

[Information regarding the protocol descriptions can be found in chapter 10

of the appropriate configuration description.]

10.2 Commissioning
[see chapter 11.1 of the appropriate configuration description]
The Doppler Radar Sensor DRS05/1S1# needs no adjustment. The signal
processor will automatically boot by switching on the power supply. The voltage
rate must be as specified in chapter 5.5.1 or chapter 5.5.2, depending on the
variant.
Now check the function of the sensor. This happens by moving the hand in a
distance of approx. 60 cm periodically toward the front side of the sensor and away
from it. The procedure should last longer than 1 second. During this process the
sensor will send a square-wave voltage with speed-proportional frequency at the
pulse output. Otherwise, if no square-wave voltage is delivered, it is necessary to
check the connection of the connector, the cable and the supply voltage.

10.2.1 Measured value during standstill

INFO
Incorrect measured value during standstill
During maintenance, if the device is close to, e.g. fluorescent tubes that are
operated with switching power supply, this can simulate a signal during standstill
that cannot be differentiated from a Doppler signal. The cause is the reflection at INFO
the conductive plasma of the fluorescent lamps which are modulated by the
switching frequency of their power supply.
Due to the modulation with a high frequency (10 to 30 KHz), a signal with a very
high speed can be correspondingly simulated. The recognition of a valid signal
using the phase relationship is not possible with certainty in this case, as this
results in a constant phase relationship which might coincidentally lie in the
range considered valid.

11.2 Operating instructions

Please refer to Chapter 8 “Installation conditions” on page 37 and “Installation
Regulations” on page 40.

11.3 Pulse output

The pulse output (frequency) is operated as frequency output with a pulse duty
factor of 1:1. The output enables a configurable speed resolution with a range from
10 to 100 Hz per kilometers per hour based to the maximum speed of 600 km/h.
This corresponds to a distance resolution of 2.7 to 27 mm per pulse.
The factory standard speed resolution is set by 69.44 Hz per km/h. This equates to
a distance resolution of 4 mm/pulse. Upon customer requests the factory setting
can be changed within the above-mentioned ranges. Within the device variant
DRS05/1S1a the pulse output is designed as 'open collector' without internal
collector resistor (see Figure 11/1, page 49), within the device variants
DRS05/1S1c and DRSs05/1S1d a pull-up resistor with 1.3 kΩ is used.
The collector resistor (pull-up resistor) must be provided externally by the user (see
chapter 5.5.4 “Outputs” on page 31) for device variant DRS05/1S1a. In this
context, comply with the limiting values of the output parameter IOUT(max.) = 30 mA
and UOUT(max.) = 30 VDC) by all means (see chapter 5.5.4.1 “Pulse output” on
page 31).

[Further information regarding the pulse output can be found in the

configuration description, chapter 9.1.]

11.4 Interfaces
The DRS05/1S1# Doppler Radar Sensor provides a RS485 serial interface and an
open collector (OC) pulse output in the basic version for further processing in the
system. Galvanically they are isolated against each other and from the input
voltage, from the analogue and digital parts as well as from the housing.

12 Diagnosis and Service Functions

12.1 Simple Function Test
An easy method to check the functionality of DRS05/1S1# can be carried out with
movement in the range of the ray path of the antennae. This happens by moving
the hand in a distance of approx. 60 cm periodically toward the front side of the
sensor and away from it. The procedure should last longer than 1 second. During
this process the sensor will send a square-wave voltage with speed-proportional
frequency at the pulse output. Otherwise, if no square-wave voltage is delivered, it
is necessary to check the connection of the connector, the cable and the supply
voltage.

[Further information can be found in the configuration description,

Chapter 11.2.]

12.2 Test Mode

The TEST input can be connected to signal ground (GND1) for test purposes.
When the supply voltage is switched on, an identification string containing the serial
number, commission data, calibration factor and firmware status is issued. The
data rate is 9,600 baud.
After the identification string, the baud rate is switched to 19,200 baud and the test
protocol is sent (see chapter 5.5.3.1 “Service inputs TEST and PROG” on
page 30).

[The specification of the test protocol is defined in the configuration

description.]

[Further information can be found in the configuration description, chapter

11.2.1 and in the DEUTA documentation Technical Description DRS05
Programming Adapter WK1628-4.]

12.3 Prog Mode

The PROG input can be connected to signal ground (GND1) for service purposes.
The data rate is 19,200 baud. Data exchange to update the firmware can be
achieved by using a special protocol (see chapter 5.5.3.1 “Service inputs TEST
and PROG” on page 30).
This requires a special software.

13.1 Special notes
Customer intervention during the guarantee period is not permitted or may only be
carried out after DEUTA has been informed and has given written approval.

13.1.1 Requirements of Personnel

These instructions are intended exclusively for personnel which has been trained
in railway engineering or electrical engineering.
Only personnel especially trained and certified by DEUTA may modify hardware or
software of a DRS05/1S1#.

13.2 Line replaceable unit

The entire DRS05/1S1# is the line replaceable unit.

13.3 Preventive Maintenance

13.3.1 Measured value during standstill

INFO
Incorrect measured value during standstill
During maintenance, if the device is close to, e.g. fluorescent tubes that are ope-
rated with switching power supply, this can simulate a signal during standstill that
cannot be differentiated from a Doppler signal. The cause is the reflection at the INFO
conductive plasma of the fluorescent lamps which are modulated by the swit-
ching frequency of their power supply.
Due to the modulation with a high frequency (10 to 30 KHz), a signal with a very
high speed can be correspondingly simulated. The recognition of a valid signal
using the phase relationship is not possible with certainty in this case, as this re-
sults in a constant phase relationship which might coincidentally lie in the range
considered valid.

13.3.2 Visual Inspection of the housing

Damages to the housing such as light scratches or light chipping are permissible.
Damage that could cause the housing to break or cause cracks in the housing
requires the immediate replacement of the DRS05/1S1#.

13 Maintenance

13.3.3 Visual Inspection of the antennae

Damages to the antenna frame such as scratches or chipping are permissible, yet
not if the antenna covers are damaged. Damages which cause the antenna
surfaces to break require immediate replacement. Pollution with a layer of dirt of up
to 1 mm thickness typical for railway applications is permissible. Cleaning with
liquid detergents without mechanical add-ons in accordance with the respective
pollution is permitted.

13.3.4 Visual Inspection of the cables

a) Connection cable (not included in the scope of supply of DRS05/1S1#)
Brittle cables must be replaced when cracks appear in the coating. Damaged
cables with rents or cuts >3 mm length in the coating must be replaced. Bent or
broken cables must be replaced.
b) Earth cable (not included in the scope of supply of DRS05/1S1#)
Brittle cables must be replaced if the cable is expected to break. Bent or broken
cables must be replaced.

13.3.5 Visual Inspection of the Connectors

Signs of corrosion are permitted as long as there are no signs that water has
intruded. Do not take off the cable connector for inspection and do not open/close
the bayonet connector if not necessary!

13.3.6 Winter Conditions

Depending upon the weather it can be necessary to keep the emission range of the
antennae free. Under winter conditions a control before departure is necessary.

13.4 Corrective Maintenance

Because the entire DRS05/1S1# is the smallest replaceable unit, the replacement
of components in DRS05/1S1# or repairs must only be carried out by DEUTA. The
replacement time of this unit in the line is approximately 20 minutes.

15 Disposal

15 Disposal
15.1 Instructions for disposal
All electrical and electronic equipment should be disposed of in accordance with
directive 2002/96/EG of the European Parliament and Council dated January 27,
2003.
The complete units are handed over to a certified waste disposal vendor who will
dispose of the units sorted according to their materials.
In case the user disposes of the units himself, the units must be disassembled and
also disposed of according to their materials (for example metals, plastics,
electronics waste and glass). This must be done in accordance with the directive
2002/96/EG mentioned above.
For example,
• metals may be handed over to a scrap metal dealer
• plastics and glass may be supplied to recycling.
The electronic scrap materials must be handed over to a certified waste disposal
vendor.
In doing so, the respectively effective national laws and regulations need to be
observed under all circumstances.
The units may also be disposed of by returning them to DEUTA in connection with
a corresponding agreement.

15.2 List of materials

A list of the materials used is available from DEUTA if required.
