The serve procedure ie the same for both arrangements A. REMOVAL 1. Remave slide valve potentiometer cover and cover gasket. Dis: card gosket, 2, Remove and replace potentiometer if faulty. Refer to S70=115 TOM, Section 4=3-2.3-5 for procedure. 3. Remove potentiometer mounting bracket, FIG. 7 Fic. 4, Remove plug from cylinder bottom port $C1 and drain ol Reinstall plug. 5, Remove helicl rod, rod seal end eylinder cover assombly. 6. Remove helical rod eal at outlined below. AA. Remove and retsin collar ar enap ring ae spplicable. Remove sea! cover plate and pull helical rod from eylinder ©. From eylinder cover remave and discard O-ring or V-Ring seal 3s appieebe. 8. INSTALLATION 1. Install 2 new oiled O-ring o-M4rng-seorassembly-aoppteable- In evlinder cover 2, Install helical rod and seal cover plate, 3, ‘Secure helical rod using retained collar or snap ring, Rad must turn freely, NOTE: When collar is used with the helical rod pushed against cylinder cover there must be O05 inch clearance between colar ‘snde5! cover piste 44, Install asembled helical rod, rod seal and cylinder cover. CAUTION: Make sure groove in helical rod engages with drive pin inside valve spine 5. Install potentiometer mounting bracket, potentiometer, new cover gasket and cover. REMOVAL, WARNING ~ SLIDE STOP POTENTIOMETER AND INDICATOR ROD MUST BE RENOVED PRIOR TO REMOVING CYLINDER ASSEMBLY. 1. Remove plug rom oil drain port SC9 located in bottom center of, inlet cose and dain oi. Reinstall plug, 2. Remove the four (4) plugs from cylinder drain ports SC1, 2,3, and 4 Toested in the bottom of the oyinder and drain oil Rein all loge NOTE: Early versions of the TDSH compressors do not have those dain pgs 3. Remove slide valve potentiometer cover, cover gasket, potent ‘meter and mounting bracket. Refer to Section 2 4. FIG. 13, CAUTION ~ To prevent damoge to potentiometer shaft pull cover straight off until shaft disengaged from deve pin in spindle. 3. Seteylinder upon liner cover face slide vae up. FIG. 14 WARNING — Slide valve is under high spring tension, use caution in disassembly, 4. Band back teb on lide valve locknut lock washer. 5. Wile pressing down on slide valve to relieve pressure on lock nut, remove locknurt and lock washer, FIG. 15 6, Slowly releate spring prossure letting slide valve side up off spindle, 7. Remove spring and reinstall locknut 8, Install a 2/8” valve in cylinder top port SC3 and slowly pres surize with dry nitrogen until movable stop assembiy pops out feylinde. Lift stop assembly off spindle. Remove focknut, lock washer and Side valve piston, Discard lock washer. For side stop Cover use movable slide stop Set cylinder upon cylinder cover face and install a snap ring in the third groove in the cylinder from the compressor end or top. CAUTION ~ Care must be taken not to damage honed surfsce of eylinder. Place new ciled O-ring in second groove in cylinder, Push eylinder bulkhead with alyd ring through O-ring until firmly seated op snap ring. Secure by installing stan ring in third groove of cylinder. Lightly it machined surface of movable slide stop and push ‘through bore of slide stop cover. On threaded end of slide stop install new O-ring, lige stop piston, lock wether and forknut, Tighten lock nut until tab on fock wither aligns with slot in nut. Bend washer tab into sot to scure nut. Place new O-ring in piston groove thon split alyd ring over Oring, Place new ciled O-ring in large ciameter groove in slide stop 9. Carefully, so not to damage piston alyd ring, push assembied slide stop piston and cover inte cylinder until cover s seated Install O-ring on polished end of spindle (end with drive pin. Oil O-ing and polished surface of spindle then carefully so not to darnago aid rings, push spindle through movable slide stop andeylinder bukhead Lay eylinder on its side and push spindle forward until spindle just clears cylinder cover Face CAUTION = Unpotished surface of spindle must not enter gly ing in movable slide stop. 1 Install side valve piston, lock washer end locknut. Tighten Tocknut until slot im nut aligns with lock washer tab, Bend tab 10 secure nut, Install O-ring then split glyd ing into groove in piston. Push piston and spindle assembly back into cylinder. Install assembled potentiometer sheft and eylinder cover, CAUTION ~ Make sure shaft groove engages with drive pin in spindle Install a 3/8" valve in eylinder top port SCI and pressurize 10:30 psig with ry nitrogen, 19, 870-115 81 Page 11 lace spring over slide valve spindle into slide stop pocket then place side vale with soring packet over soil and spring, Compress side valve sping by pushing down on side valve, Install new lock washer with ta ond locknut. Install three (3) jack ols with spacers through holes in side stop cover into inlet case, NOTE: Jack bolts should be placed at2,6 and TO o‘ciock 2. Align peak of aide stop with vertical center ine of compressa Tighten the nuts on the jock bolts evenly pushing the lide stop cover and slide stop into inlet case Bore uni slide stop contacts 1 Install 91/2" — 20 UNC x 4-1/2" bolt in inlet cate port SCA Until contaet is made with slide stop, —Siowiy turn Bolt in, ‘ising slide stop while applying pressure on the side stop nti it comes in contact with the guide surface in rotor cae. Back ‘out bolt 1/8 tuen and continue to jack slide stop and cover into position. Use two (2) cap screws st 4 and 8 o'clock, Socure movable slide stop cover to inlet eas, Remove jack bolts and install cap screws. Torque all ive (5) cap sews, Remove spindle extension too. Place & new olled O-ring on outboard flange of slide stop cover ‘then instal inet case cove, Place Ovring then slide valve piston on spindle and secure with lock washer and nut. Tien locknut until tb on lock washer signs with slot in locknut then bend tab into slot to secure Install slyd ring besring, new Oving and split giyd ring on piston, Supporting cylinder, carefully so not to damage siyd ring bearing and alyd ring, side cylinder over alide valve piston Secure cylinder to inlet cove cover ond torque eap terews. Install eylinder cover and potentiometer shaft assembly. Make sure potentiometer shaft groove is aligned with drive pin in ‘indie Insta 3/8" valve in cylinder top SC2 port and pressurize to 30 psig with dry nitrogen, Remove slide vale locking tool from top SCE port in face of outlet case ad install NPT plug, Crack 3/8" valve and siowiy elive pressure to atmosphere Install movable slide stop indicator rod assembly, potent lometer bracket, potentiometer, cover and gasket.
