TOK EXHIBITION SPEECH

Good morning, today I Ashmit from 11c am going to be talking about my TOK prompt, “What role do
experts play in influencing our consumption or acquisition of knowledge? “

Those that have an extensive knowledge and expertise in a given profession are considered experts.
They act as guides for us as we navigate through the huge information sea around us.

Experts help us make educated choices, offer helpful advice and guidance, and contribute to the
creation and sharing of knowledge through their authority, credibility, and their very own expertise.
Experts are very vital sources of information, but it's also crucial for people to use their own
judgment and critical thinking to have an in-depth awareness and understanding of the subjects.

My first object are books. Books are a common way for experts to pass on their expertise to us.
Experts provide their knowledge to these publications, whether they are textbooks, academic
papers, or even science-themed novels. We assume that what is written in a book authored by an
expert is accurate and trustworthy. As a student myself, books are my companion on the journey for
knowledge, I am constantly in touch with books to understand complex topics, practice research
papers, improve my vocabulary by reading etc. Books give me a strong foundation of knowledge and
helps me in a comprehending complicated subject.

Now, onto my second object, which is laboratory equipment. To perform experiments, gather data,
and solve the unresolved problems of the natural world, experts use vast variety of tools and
equipment. These tools allow experts to dive into the depths of their professions. They include
advanced devices that examine complex chemical reactions to microscopes that expose the smallest
details of tiny organisms. Experts extend the boundaries of human knowledge by researching
tirelessly in labs to discover new information. I myself recall the excitement of working with a
laboratory equipment for the first time. It was a memorable experience that fuelled my passion in
science and inspired me to pursue in science.

And my third object is the news media. It is crucial in introducing us to experts and their knowledge.
The news media helps us become more familiar with the abundance of knowledge that exists in the
world today through interviews, articles, and expert analysis. News media has played a crucial role in
my academic life as the access to expert opinions and analysis through medias and articles helped
expand my understanding on various subjects. Experts provide many viewpoints, and start
interesting conversations, by participating in news media, we can get knowledge from professionals,
gain a more knowledge of current affairs, and establish our own perspectives.

Recognizing others' knowledge and developing our own critical thinking abilities are  crucial steps in
our quest for knowledge. Experts act as our guides, giving us helpful suggestions and reliable data.
But it's important to discuss their concepts and raise inquiries. Our understanding is strengthened
and knowledge is added to when we actively participate in the learning process.
So let's accept the knowledge that experts provide, whether it comes from books, labs, or the media.
Let's seek out new ideas, and cultivate our quest for information. Together, we can navigate through
the vast amount of knowledge, find the truths, and change the world for the better.
