 Directions

Setup
 Photocopy wings (brown paper), the head
(white paper), the beak and feet (orange
paper) for each student.
 Photocopy one set of the Memorial Day mini-book
for each student.

Directions

Step 1: Cut out all eagle parts and mini-book pages.

Step 2: Assemble the mini-book with the cover

page on top. Staple the book twice at the top.

Step 3: Fill out the mini-book with illustrations and

answer the question on the last page.

Step 4: Glue the beak to the eagle’s head.

Step 5: Glue the head, wings, and feet to the sides of the
mini-book.

 What is Memorial Day?
Memorial Day is an important holiday for
American families. It is a day to remember and
honor military men and women who have died
while serving our country.

Draw a picture of a man

or woman in the military.

How do we celebrate
Memorial Day?
Some people celebrate with barbeques and
family parties. Others decorate their yards
with flags and the colors red, white and blue.
Some visit cemeteries and decorate graves.

Students all over the country participate in
Memorial Day parades, write cards to veterans,
write letters to soldiers overseas, and teach
others about the meaning of Memorial Day.
