DESCRIPTION OF INSTALLATION: (a) Installation of this kit consists of: (2) Installing de-ice system components in engine compartment. (2) Installing switch, ammeter, and fabricating and connecting wiring as shown in the wiring diagram (8) Installing de-ice boots on propeller blades. 2. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: (2) Install de-ice components and brackets in accordance with blueprints supplied in kit. (®) Make electrical connections in accordance with wiring diagram supplied in kit. (@) Installing de-ice boots on propeller blades xs follows: (1) Place a mark at the hub end of the blade in Line with the blade leading edge. Center the de-ice ‘boot on this mark at a distance from the hub as specified on the drawing. Mark the position of the de-icer lead strap where it crosses the hub. Check lead strap position by fitting the de-icer sstrap clamp on the hub and comparing its position with the marked position of the strap. @ @ @ 6) @ a AKQ10-141 ‘With boot positioned as in step (1), mask off an area 1/2 inch from each side of the boot and 1/2 inch from the outer end. Remove any paint in the marked off area. Clean the metal surface thoroughly with MEK. For final cleaning wipe the solvent film off quickly with a clean, dry cloth before it has time to dry. Stir thoroughly the EC1300L cement. Surfaces shall be above 60°F (18°C) prior to applying cement.” During periods of high humidity care shall be taken to prevent moisture condensation ‘ue to the cooling effect of the evaporating solvent. This can be done by warming the area with a heat gun or heat lamp. Apply one even bruch coat of EC1300L cement to the cleaned metal Surface. Allow to air dry for 4 minimim of one hour and then apply a second even brush coat of ECI300i. cement ‘Moisten a clean cloth with MEK and clean the unglazed surface of the de-ice boot. Apply one even brush coat of EC1300L cement to the unglazed back surface of the boot. It is not necessary to cement more than 1/2 inch of the de-ice boot lead strap. Install each de-ice boot on propeller blades as follows: (@) Using a silver pencil, mark a ceater line along the leading edge of the propeller blade and a corresponding ceaterline on the cemented side of the de-ice boot. (0) Reactivate the surface of the cement using a clean, lint-free cloth, heavily moistened with toluol. Avoid excessive rubbing of cement, which would remove it from the sirface. (©) Position the de-ice boot centerline on the prop leading edge, starting at the hub edge. Make sure that the strap clamp wil fall inthe position marked. Tack the de-ice boot centerline to the leading edge of the propeller blade. If the boot is allowed to get off course, pull up witha quick motion and replace properly. Roll firmly along the centerline with @ rubber roller. (@ Gradually tilting the roller, work the de-ice boot carefully over either side of the blade contour to avoid trapping air pockets. (€) Apply one even brush coat of GACO N-700-A sealer or equivalent (conforming to specification ‘MIL-C-21067) around the edges of the installed de-ice boots. (9 Remove masking tape from the blades and clean the surface of the blade by wiping with a clean cloth dampened with toluol. @ Install clamps ete. per drawing. NOTE In the event that it becomes recessary to remove or loosen installed ‘boots, toluol shall be used to soften the "cement" line. A minimum amount of this solvent should be applied to the cement line as tension Is applied to peel back the boot. The removal should be slow enough to allow the solvent to undercut the cement so that parts will not be damaged. 3. OPERATIONAL CHECKOUT.
