Personal Writing Choice First Quarter Process paper Guiding Question: How do writers use the tools of communication

n to create personal voice in their writing? Goal: You should create a piece of personal writing on a topic of your choosing which demonstrates your understanding of the answer to this question, and of the concepts discussed in class over the course of the unit. Step 1: First Draft (Due Friday, Sept. 23) 350+ words Topic: Your choice (fiction or nonfiction) Should be as polished a piece of writing as you can produce (finished) A t the top (above the writing), you should list the following: o Topic (What the piece of writing is about, its subject) o Emotions (What emotions you wish to convey in the writing 2 or 3 will be fine) Worth 50 points for completing this thoughtfully and following directions Step 2: Revision (Tuesday-Friday, Sept. 27-30) We will spend four days on revision strategies. A fter each day of revision, you are expected to incorporate the revision strategy into your draft, constantly revising your work. Step 3: Final Draft (Due Monday, Oct. 3) Length: 500+ words Should demonstrate understanding of Diction, Detail, Imagery, Syntax, and Figurative Language. This means you should have specific examples of each in your writing, which show evidence of conscious choice on your part. You should show that you have considered the effect of each these tools when incorporating them into your writing. Worth: 100 points Please see the back of this sheet for a rubric.
