2. Information about the active ingredient

Chemical Characterization
Chemical Name: 2-Propenoic acid, homopolymer, ammonium salt. 10% - 18% by weight
Synonym: Ammonium polyacrylate solution and water
CAS No.: 9003-03-6

3. Hazards identification

Contact may cause eye and skin irritation. Breathing vapors may cause respiratory tract
irritation. Heating in excess of 100°C evolves ammonia.

Not hazardous according to Directive 67/548/EEC.


No serious risk of damage to eyes or skin. Also see point no.11.

4. First aid measure

General advice
Remove contaminated clothing.

After inhalation
If difficulties occur after vapour/aerosol has been inhaled, remove to fresh air and
seek medical attention.

After contact with skin


Rinse contaminated skin immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice
if necessary.

After contact with eyes

Immediately rinse eyes with running water for at least 15 minutes with eyelids held
open and seek medical advice if necessary.

After ingestion
If swallowed, drink plenty of water and seek medical advice immediately, no
specific antidote.

Use fork lifts/trolley for moving from one place to another.

Irritant effect on skin: Subjected on the healthy skin of Guinea pig in 25%, 50% and
100% concentration. No animal showed any untoward effects during
72 hours of observation period.
