LEARNING STANDARD : Main: 4.3.3 Plan, draft and write an increased range of simple sentences
Complementary: 3.2.2 Understand specific information and details of short simple
texts
LEARNING OBJECTIVES : By the end of the lesson, the pupils will be able to:
i) say ¾of the simple predictions.
ii) say 2/4 short simple texts.

ACTIVITIES
i. PRE-LESSON : Play a mime or guessing game to review animal vocabulary.
ii. LESSON DEVELOPMENT : 1.Show the flashcard of the shark and elicit/teach the word shark. Ask pupils if they
have seen a shark. Ask them what they think of sharks. Elicit or teach scary. Ask if they
think sharks are scary.
2. Show pupils the worksheet (see below) and ask them to guess which animal by
circling it. They may not know the answer, but they can guess.
3. Play the CD and have pupils read along silently. They check their answers to the
worksheet.
4. Ask pupils to circle the words science and project. Encourage pupils to try to work
out what the words mean from the context and from the pictures, especially picture 6.
5. Follow instructions for Grammar Box on Teacher’s Book, p.147.
6. Follow instructions for Activity 2 on Teacher’s Book, p.147.

ii. LESSON DEVELOPMENT : 1.Show the pictures of the two types of camel and elicit some differences between
them.
2. Follow instructions for Vocabulary on Teacher’s Book, p.182.
3. Follow instructions for Activity 1 and Activity 2 on Teacher’s Book, p.182.
4. Ask pupils if they remember finding out about endangered Malaysian animals in
Lesson 148. Return their sentences to them from that lesson, having pupils work in the
same pairs if possible.
5. Ask pupils to draw their animal in large size on paper and cut it out.
6. At the same time, have different pupils in the group write the sentences on separate
pieces of paper.
iii. POST-LESSON : Talk to pupils about what they have learned in this lesson about endangered animals
and about how we can help protect our natural world.

i. PRE-LESSON : Play a word game that focuses on the past tense of the words .
ii. LESSON DEVELOPMENT : 1.Tell pupils they are going to read a fairy story. Ask them whether they know any
other fairy stories (e.g. Sleeping Beauty). Note that many have been made into films by
Disney, so pupils may know them.
2. Show pupils the picture of the princess. Elicit some adjectives to describe her. Tell
pupils that many men in the land want to marry the princess, so they have some
competitions.
3. Ask pupils to read the story on Student’s Book, p.102–103 to check to see whether
they were right. Remind them that they do not need to understand every word and
can use the pictures to help them understand the storyline.
4. Play the CD and have pupils follow along. Follow the instructions for While reading
on Teacher’s Book, p.154–155.
iii. POST-LESSON : Ask pupils to think about what they have learned in Unit 10 and how well they feel
they know the language now.
