1)READ THIS PART OF THE POEM "Let America Be America Again" by

Langston Hughes:
“O, let America be America again—
The land that never has been yet—
And yet must be—the land where every man is free.
The land that's mine—the poor man's, Indian's, Negro's, ME—
Who made America,
Whose sweat and blood, whose faith and pain,
Whose hand at the foundry, whose plow in the rain,
Must bring back our mighty dream again.”

Cornford.
I saw an unhappy child who sat
And looked into the fire;
And as he looked, he thought and thought,
And did not even quire.

His clothes were poor, and his face was thin,

And his eyes were very sad;
And when he looked up at me at last,
He smiled, but oh, it was bad.
"What is the matter, my little man?"
I said, "and what do you do?"
And he shook his head, and said "O, sir,
I'm so unhappy, boo-hoo!

"My mother she's dead, and my father's gone,

And I don't know what to do;
My brothers and sisters are all dead too,
And I'm so lonesome, boo-hoo!

"My father he used to beat me so,

And mother she did the same;
And now they're gone, I'm all alone,
And no one's left to blame.
