3 Definition

3.1 Mean coating mass

The average value of the coating masses determined either by using a control sample
selected in accordance with Clause 5 using tests in accordance with EN ISO 1460 or by
conversion of the mean coating thickness

3.2 Lot
A group of articles offered for acceptance from the same manufacturer, of the same
design and manufactured under presumed similar conditions of production. One or more
lots may be offered together for acceptance; the lot(s) offered may consist of the whole, or
part, of the quantity ordered

4 Kinds
The kind of service entrance set is classified in Table 1 of this specification according to
used conduits.

1215540 75
1215550 100

5 Requirements
Service entrance set shall consist of service entrance cap and rigid steel conduit (having
the straps or brackets for mounting, coupling for extension) and shall meet the physical and
mechanical requirements as follows.

5.1 Material
The service entrance set shall be made from steel in accordance with ISO 630 or over
equivalent.

5.2 Tensile strength

The minimum tensile strength shall not be less than 410N/mm2.

4/9
5.3 Hot-dip galvanizing
The service entrance set made of steel shall be hot-dip galvanized in accordance with
ISO 1460. The thickness of coating for surface shall be equal to the all areas of service
entrance set. The mean coating mass shall be not less than 610g/m2 in accordance with ISO
1461.

5.4 Design requirements

5.4.1 Service entrance cap (Or weather head)

(a) The shape of service entrance cap shall be suitable for attaching to a vertical conduit
and receiving the cables from electrical service drop.
(b) The service entrance cap shall have a clamp for connection with the conduit specified
in Table 1 of this specification easily and quickly.
(c) The service entrance cap shall be designed so as to prevent rainwater from entering the
conduit and can decrease insulation damage of cable.
(d) The service entrance cap shall be designed to be used for the cable of 2 to 4-cores and
shall be designed to use at both indoor and outdoor.

5.4.2 Rigid steel conduit

(a) The inner diameter of conduit shall comply with the requirements of Table 1 of this
specification.
(b) The total length of conduit shall comply with the agreement between GECOL and
supplier and the thickness of conduit shall declared by manufacturer. But the length of
a conduit shall be not more than 500mm.
(c) The conduit couplings for extension of conduit shall be supplied in order to meet a
required total length.
(d) The conduit shall be equipped with suitable straps or brackets for mounting on the
wall. And the quantity of straps or brackets shall be not less than one per conduit.

6 Tests
All service entrance sets are to be checked for compliance with this specification and
with the ordering quantity. GECOL reserves the rights to ask for tests to confirm the
quality of service entrance set in the presence of GECOL representatives.
All test reports of the below defined and executed tests shall be submitted to GECOL for
approval within one week after the completion of the tests.

6.1 Sampling
Test specimens shall be selected at random from each inspection lot (or articles) in
accordance with ISO 2859-1. The number of samples selected from each lot shall comply

5/9
with Table 2 of this specification.
Table 2 - Number of test samples
Lot size Sample size Lot size Sample size
25 or less 5 501 to 1,200 80
26 to 50 8 1,201 to 3,200 125
