after-school classes, I would like to hang out with my besties.
Yes, I have always loved traveling a lot because it allows me to learn about
different places, different cultures and different kinds of lifestyles. Besides, it

as the boredom of my monotonous daily routines (thói quen hằng ngày đơn

Well, I think I’m big on (be big on N/ V-ing = to like N/ V-ing) sports. Although
I’m not good at it, my favorite one is swimming. You know, practicing a sport
regularly does wonders for my health as it helps me keep in shape and it also
helps to relieve my back and neck pain. Last but not least (cuối cùng nhưng
không kém phần quan trọng), it refreshes my mind after a long day of hard
work (sau một ngày dài làm việc cực nhọc)
You could call me a couch potato (người làm biếng, chỉ nằm dài trên sofa cả
ngày). I’m naturally thin without any exercise, so I’m quite lazy when it comes to
workouts. I do go hiking in the mountains, but I should definitely do more to build
muscles.
There are plenty of them. I guess, the most popular of them all would be football
since it’s the king of sports. It is practiced everywhere in Vietnam. Besides, some
other games are also rising in the country such as badminton or swimming.
They’re easy to play and on top of that (trên hết) they allow us to increase/
promote psychological well-being (tăng cường sức khỏe tâm lý)

● I like to watch romantic movies, especially movies about the pure school

Absolutely yes! You know I’m a great movie buff (= cinephile/ filmophile/
movie addict/ movie lover/ movie freak = người thích xem phim). So I love
getting updated with all the latest blockbusters/ blockbuster films (những bộ
phim bom tấn). Also, at the cinema, you can experience better sound and visual
effects. Last but not least, the ticket is reasonably priced
2. How often do you go to the cinema?
I would say at least twice a month (ít nhất hai lần một tháng) because
watching films, especially at the cinema, is my all-time favourite pastime (trò
tiêu khiển/ thú vui tiêu khiển yêu thích mọi lúc của tôi) . As well as this, you
can have a more authentic/genuine feeling (có cảm giác chân thực hơn)
through a huge screen. You can feel the director’s message all the more deeply
(thông điệp sâu sắc hơn). One example of this is (một ví dụ về điều này là)
the film Bohemian Rhapsody which I will watch the 3rd time when it is
re-released (được phát hành lại).
I probably only go once every two or three months (mỗi 2-3 tháng một lần)
because the cinemas here only show blockbusters and I’m not really into most of
those films. I also have less time now than I did when I was a student, and when
I do have free time, I usually want to hang out with my friends and have a chat,
rather than sit down and watch films.
Because of the existence of the internet, I rarely spend time watching movies in
theaters. I love to watch movies in the comfort of my home, aside from the fact
that it’s convenient, I almost don’t need to spend money. Going to the cinema is
really costly, not only do you spend money on tickets, but you also have to pay
for your snacks and fuel for your car.
Not too often, actually. As the prices in my country are quite high, I usually opt to
(= choose) watch a movie at home instead to save on costs. Actually, I think it’s
kind of a waste of money to see a movie at a cinema when you can watch it from
the comfort of your living room. I only go when a friend invites me, which is
maybe 4 times a year.
Not very often, actually. I used to go there at least once a month, but now I have
lots of things to worry about, so I rather focus on my work and just choose a
movie to watch at home. It is still a satisfying experience, thanks to the
emergence of many streaming services like Netflix.
đi chung với một động từ khác là "go" như: "We will go watch that movie/We will go and
watch that movie".
Yes, definitely, learning arts, especially at a young age, can help stimulate (kích thích)
children’s cognitive development (phát triển nhận thức) and encourage them to
think outside the box/ think out of box (tư duy/ suy nghĩ đột phá)
I love hanging landscape pictures (ảnh phong cảnh) at home since it brings in the
beauty of mother nature and that somehow (bằng 1 cách nào đó) eases people’s
mind (= set/ put one’s mind at ease = take a weight off one’s mind : làm đầu óc ai
đó nhẹ nhõm) after a long day/ a rough day at work. Another style of drawing that I
also like is portraits (ảnh chân dung). It could be portraits of someone important to me
or even my lovely pets.

within walking distance, like markets, churches, hospitals and all kinds of fashion
shops and restaurants. That means I can easily grab anything I need in just a few
minutes. So I really enjoy my life there.
It would be made of timber and have 2 rooms, one’s for me and the other is for the
guests. It sounds small but it would be cozy and fully-furnitured by only
environmentally friendly interior ornaments and other necessary mod cons (sự tiện
nghi hiện đại).
Can you describe the place where you live?/ Please describe the room you live in.
My current room is actually more like a bedsit. It is a multi – purpose room, I use it to
sleep and study as well. It is painted in pink, that’s my favourite colour with a bed, a
cupboard and desk. It’s not really spacious but it’s just right for me.
What have you done to your room to make it look nice?/ How is your apartment
decorated?
My home is styled in a minimal way. Almost everything is painted in plain white,
and a few landscape paintings and all small blue modern ornaments act as
delicate touches. The interior design is simple, yet convenient and very pleasant
to look at.
I like the white and black colour, so the room’s walls have painted a combination of both
things. I love art and craft, so I made many things from old material which is hung on the
walls, and the most important thing is that I keep my room spic and span.
It heavily depends on people’s preference and affordability since each type of property
has its own perks. If one enjoys the modern amenities that an apartment complex can
provide such as gyms, swimming pools and convenience stores and, of course, he has
money, an apartment would be a great choice. In contrast, houses are usually suitable
for those who prefer privacy and a quiet lifestyle.
Sure. This place is just newly-built and equipped with all the necessary household
appliances that I’ve ever wanted. It’d be absurd planning to move out after I’ve put a lot
of work into decorating this house.
To be honest, I intend to buy an apartment in an urban area after I graduate from
university. I can decorate and design my ideal home with whatever facilities I want.
My answer would be yes. I have nothing to complain about with my current
accommodation. Everything is up to par, from the neighbours to the vicinity to amenities.
That’s why my family has no intention of leaving this wonderful neighbourhood.
That was never my plan. Two years ago I decided to rent a room here because my
house was too far and it took me forever to get to my office. But I only stay here for
maybe 1 or 2 years more before I can afford a house of my own.
3. Which room does your family spend most of the time in?/ Which is your favorite room,
why?/ What part of your home do you like the most?
It’s definitely the kitchen. Not only lunch or dinner time but all our family reunions take
place in the kitchen where all the family members get together to eat tasty meals, and
chat to each other – it’s a really harmonious atmosphere.
The kitchen, for sure. Like most Asian families, our kitchen and dining room are
adjoined, and we spend much of the day there eating and chatting. It is always cozy
and full of laughter (tràn ngập tiếng cười) sitting in the kitchen together with my
family members.
4. What's the difference between where you are living now and where you lived in the
past?
I used to stay in a two-storey house in District 9, which took me more than an hour to
get to school. Now that I've moved to a more central area, commuting isn't a big
problem anymore and many amenities like shopping malls and cinemas are within
walking distance to my house.
Living in a dorm with other roommates is totally different from living in my own house.
My current residential area is quite small and it’s very noisy because there are a lot of
people there and I don’t have my own space. Conversely, when I was living at home, I
had my own spacious room and it made me feel comfortable.
Two months. I am still not very familiar with the surrounding area, but I like exploring
new places, so everything has been great so far. However, I noticed that my
neighborhood is quite noisy during evenings, probably because we live right behind a
main street.
I’ve lived there since I was a child, until I graduated from high school and moved to the
city to enroll at university, where I lived in a student dormitory during the semester.
In fact, I’ve been dreaming of purchasing a townhouse (= terraced house nhà phố) in
the city. I know that the price of it is not inexpensive (rẻ) and I always try to stay
motivated and work hard for my dream. I used to go to a townhouse complex in Hanoi
and was instantly impressed by (ngay lập tức bị ấn tượng bởi) the elegant designs
(thiết kế thanh lịch, tao nhã) and fresh air there.
I love the idea of constructing a two-storey house in the countryside which would be
cozy (ấm cúng) enough for a small family. Leading a minimalist lifestyle (theo đuổi
phong cách sống tối giản), I want the house to be painted plain white and the interior
design to be as simple as possible.
When it comes to a place to settle in, what I attach great importance to (đặt nặng, coi
trọng) is tranquility (sự yên bình). That’s why my dream house should be located in a
peaceful country setting far away from the hustle and bustle of the city (sự xô bồ ở
thành phố). It should have a garden so that I can do the gardening (làm vườn) in my
me-time (thời gian rảnh rỗi).
● When it comes to apartments, there are great services in close proximity for
free like the gym, swimming pool, and convenience stores.
● As much as I’ve known the house is 5 years older than me than me, with old
structure, but it is still of its best quality.
● This apartment presents an ideal opportunity for market newcomers or
investors to secure a superbly central, sought-after address and direct access
to the downtown area.
● It would be great to have a house located near the centers of Ho Chi Minh city
so that I could commute to work more quickly and conveniently.

My mother tongue is Vietnamese and I also use English as my second language. I’m
also taking Chinese classes every weekend because of its widespread use and
numerous benefits that come along with it. I am now able to hold simple daily
conversations in this language but I still have a long way to go.
I think the most effective way to learn a language is to practice more with native
speakers. I made a lot of foreign friends who speak English so I try to talk to them as
much as possible. With other languages, I’m making frequent use of studying
applications, which are doing a great job in reminding me to keep up with my study
plans.
I learned how to familiarize myself with the language from a tender age, so I did not
have to struggle to learn English at all. By incorporating English learning into my
everyday life, I was able to understand almost everything written in English since I was
pretty young. But, of course, it did take quite a long time to be able to speak and write
the language fluently.
5. Do you think foreigners should learn your country’s language when they arrive
there?
Vietnamese is a tonal language with six different tones that dictate the meaning of a
word. The high number of vowel sounds also prove difficult for English speakers to nail
down. But I think it’s obviously in their best interest to pick up a few basic words or
phrases in our native language because it is fun and would transform their traveling
experience in a way they never knew before.
