ADETS TRAINING WING OLLEGE OF MILITARY ENGINEERINGPART | — GENERAL INFORMATION Introduction 4, The 10+2 Technical Entry Scheme is the only entry process for intake of Officers in Indian ‘Army at Intermediate level, offering B Tech degree. it was started to improve the intake of technically qualified officers in the Indian Army, tailor made to the service requirement. The first TES course reported at the Indian Military Academy in the year 1999, The Cadets Training Wing made a humble start on 0B Jul 2000 when the first course, known as ‘Pioneers’ reported from IMA, Dehradun. Since then CTW, CME has been producing professionally competent engineers who are further developed into technically oriented military leaders to enhance technical threshold of Indian Army for the modern day battle field Brief History 2. The Cadets Training Wing at College of Military Engineering was formally inaugurated by Lt Gen RJ Mordecai, PVSM, Commandant, CME on 17 July 2000. The Wing moved to its present location in November 2002 and the first TES course passed out on 15" May 2003. In just a short span of 18 years, the alumni of CTW CME have left deep imprint on the environment. The alumni have done the Wing proud by their outstanding performances as proficient engineers by rendering their services in the most extreme conditions, as instructors in many training establishment and also by numerous acts of bravery in the face of the enemy. Till date 21 Alumni of CTW have won Gallantry awards which include one Kirti Chakraone ShauryaChakra,16Sena Modal(Gallantary) and throo Sena Modal (Distinguished). 3. In the past 23 glorious years, more than a thousandofficers have passed through the portals of Cadets Training Wing, CME to become a part of the alito Indian Army. The Wing is located within the beautiful campus of College of Miltary Engineering (CME) which boasts of 3600 acres of sprawling green campus. Cadets Training Wing is near CME Lake and bird sanctuary which is an epitome of natural beauty. CME is the alma mater of The Sappers (Corps of Engineers) who have an envious 240 year old legacy and have the unique distinction of “First to go in War, and Last to move out”, unlike any other arm or service of the Indian Army. 4. The Cadets Training Wing of CME is presently organised into two Companies, Bhagat and Rane. Each Company is further divided into three Platoons. Bhagat Company comprises of Alpha Bravo & Charlie Platoons and Rane Company comprises of Delta, Echo & Foxtrot Platoons. College of Miltary Engineeringhas been conducting engineering degrees of B-Tech and M.Tech since past almost 70 years, and is well equipped with classrooms, laboratories and workshops. Cadets Training Wing at CME has a vibrant academic atmosphere and the technical training of engineering degree here is done under highly qualified and experienced professors and instructors. Gentlemen Cadets upon compietion of their training are conferred with B-Tech in Civil & Mechanical Engineering Degree awarded by Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, 2. The intake history of trainees joining at CTW CME has a high academic background (with almost all of them scoring more than 80% in their PCM), and this high academic standard at intake is reinforced with training in a multi-disciplinary academic environment in College of Military Engineering Focus Areas 3. During the training at Cadets Training Wing, the key focus areas and the main emphasis is ‘on the following: (a) Developing ‘Officer Like Qualities’ among trainees. Considerable emphasis is laid at CTW on outdoor and other character-building extra- curricular activities. The training and administrative infrastructure at Cadets Training Wing CME is spread over 150 acres, with the weather of Pune being most conducive for military training. Sports Facilities 2. The extensive facilities available for games and sports include an Olympic size swimming pool, a well-equipped indoor gymnasium hall, several squash and tennis courts, a golf course and a large number of play fields for hockey, football, cricket, basketball and other games. The College of Miltary Engineering also has a wide inventory of water sports Infrastructure with an excellent Sailing Club and an Olympic Standard Rowing Channel. The Army Rowing Node (ARN), which is located within the College of Miltary Engineering campus trains oarsmen for competing at national & international levels. 3. The first of its kind facilty in the country established in the year 2001, has contributed towards nearly 375 national and 100 Intemational medals in the sports of rowing. CME being the Army Adventure Node for Blue Water Sailing gives 2 platform to cadets to pursue sailing as a hobby or take up professional sailing. CME is home to Corps of Engineers Sailing Club as wellHobbies/Clubs 6. Alaige number of hobbies are encouraged in CTW CME to include Yoga, Aero Modelling, Goff, Music & Drama, Arts, Photography, Creative Communication, Science & Computer, Pottery, ‘Asts & Creativity, Sailing and Rowing. Every Saturday is fixed as ‘Club Days’ and the trainees can join any one club every semester, which can be changed every six months, so as to ensure more variety in being part of more extra-curricular activities.Other Facilities - 7. There are plenty of other facilities available at College of Military Engineering in terms of in house movie hall, shopping complex, canteen facility, banking and other basic amenities. Movies are screened twice a week for Gentlemen Cadets i.e. English Movie on Wednesday and Hindi Movie on Saturday.CME has a branch of Punjab National Bank and State Bank of India within its campus, which provides banking facility to all Gentlemen Cadets.
