2.1 About this Manual
Scope
This document describes ATRONIC’s gaming machine software
of software level C5.2.x . This software is used to operate gam
ing machines with ATRONIC’s electronic platform Hi(!)bility.

It describes how to carry out a RAM Reset and the Initial Setup
and explains configuration and test options available in the
Service Menu. Further it describes the machine and game sta
tistics available in the Audit Menu.

Target Audience
We address qualified technical personnel, who are involved in
setup and configuration of ATRONIC gaming machines. With
this user group we assume that they are basically computer
literate and familiar with gaming machines and casino related
terminology. Please read this document carefully before you
start, to avoid incorrect configuration.

2.3 How to identify the Software

2. Introduction 2.6 Software Naming
ATRONIC game software always comes as a software set. A C
level software set of version C5.x.x. consists of 7 game EPROMs,
1 multimedia CD, 1 BIOS EPROM and 1 security device. Game
software is available in different Bet/Line versions and pro
gressive modes (Standalone, CASH FEVER™, SAS progressive,
etc.).

Each part of a software set is labeled according to this


scheme. When the machine is operating, the software
versions can be reviewed by entering the Service Menu
or the Audit Menu. The folder "Machine Information /
General Machine Settings" lists the EPROM versions.

ATRONIC game EPROMs do always come with an


ATRONIC seal label that lists part number, socket, chip
type, naming, checksum and Kobetron value. Removing
this label will void the EPROM. ATRONIC game
EPROMs come as a one-time-pro
grammable (OTP-ROM) type.

3.1 Overview
Performing a RAM Reset will clear all statistical data and ma
chine settings. After RAM Reset was carried out, the Initial
Setup will start automatically, allowing to configure machine's
basic settings. Changing the progressive jackpot configura
tion also requires a RAM Reset.

4. Initial Setup

4.1 Overview
After a RAM Reset, the machine automatically enters the
Initial
Setup. The Initial Setup is intended to configure basic
settings
of the machine. These settings can not be changed after
the
Initial Setup is completed. Any subsequent change of
these
setting requires a RAM reset and a new Initial Setup.

During Initial Setup a series of menu pages is displayed


(see
next pages for details). Simply touch the options desired
to
configure settings. Then touch the Next button to
proceed to
the next page.

Use the Back button to go back to the previous page, if neces


sary.

Some items require additional input for configuration.

Procedure
This section explains all Initial Setup menu pages in detail.
Depending on machine configuration, not all menus are dis
played.

4.2.1 Touch Screen Calibration

Touch the two yellow dots displayed on screen. The


controller
uses the data perceived immediately before you lift off
your
finger to register a calibration touch. Therefore, you can
touch
the screen, move your finger to the target, hold for a second,
and then lift your finger off. This method results in a more ac
curate calibration.

4.2.2 Cabinet Configuration

• Select e-motion for machines that feature two


displays,
such as e-motion™, e™, e™ SLANT TOP and
Harmony™.
• Select Harmony for machines that feature only one dis
play, such as Harmony™ and Harmony™ SLANT TOP.

Procedure

5.3 Jackpot Configuration Procedure


This section describes the progressive jackpot configuration
procedure in brief. You will need an ALink kit to carry out this
procedure.
If the commboard was set to progressive mode, the
game
starts up with the message “Jackpot Configuration
Required” or
“APL: Configuration Required”, to indicate that jackpot
configu
ration is missing.

1. Connect the Alink Config USB dongle to the PC.

2. Connect the PC-Setup cable to a PC serial port (e.g. COM1)


and to the machine serial port (mainboard J2). If your PC
does not feature a serial port, you have to use the USB to
serial adapter.

3. Start the PC and run A-Link Config 3.0.2.


4. Download the current progressive jackpot
configuration.

At the machine:
Press the green Service button on the mainboard to en
ter the Service Menu. Select “2.6.1 Settings / Communica
tion Settings / Jackpot Configuration” and touch the Start
Jackpot Configuration button.

At the PC:
Select Download from the Alink menu.

6. Select Progressive General Settings and configure as


needed. Then click Save & Quit to apply changes and to
close the window.

7. Select Progressive Parameters and configure as

on the ATRONIC Progressive Jackpot Calculation
Sheet
that came with your order. Values are in currency.
Then click Save & Quit to apply changes and to
close the
window.
Note: Some game concepts such as CASH FEVER™ use pre
defined (fixed) settings dependent on paytable version.
Note: The field Base Value supports no commas or dots. Enter
integer values only.
Note: Do not enter a Jackpot Name text string when you
configure a ATRONIC Linked Gaming product such as CASH
FEVER™, The Game of LIFE™, STARGATE™, etc.. This field is in
tended for non-themed APL links only.

8. Check all settings carefully and click Save, to save a back


up of the settings to disk (recommended).

9. Click Upload to send the data to the machine. Pay atten


tion to the application notes and confirm with OK to start
upload.

10. When the upload was successful, click Quit to exit the pro
gram, remove the PC-setup cable and close logic box and
maindoor.

11. Clear the "Logic Door Open" message at the machine by


turning the Audit Key.

Time Out:

Configures the coin acceptor.

2.2.2.1 Activate Coin Acceptor


While in Service Menu mode, the coin acceptor is deactivated.
This menu allows to activate the coin acceptor, e.g. for pro
gramming.

Shows configuration of NRI G-13 coin acceptor as

Configures the bill acceptor handling.
2.2.3.1 Operation Mode
Set the bill acceptor operation mode to:

• Value of accepted bill is added to credit meter.


• Accepted bills are changed immediately by
paying bill value from the hopper.

2.2.3.2 Bills Enabled


Enable or disable acceptance of a particular bill type by
touch
ing the Enable/Disable button.

Note: Bills that have been disabled during the Initial


Setup are
permanently disabled and can not be enabled in this menu.

2.2.3.3 Voucher Redemption


(if applicable)

Redemption Enabled:
Enables or disables voucher redemption (ticket in) in
general
(default = off)

Code Length:
Sets the barcode code length. Applicable for certain bill ac
ceptor types only.

Note: Voucher redemption (ticket in) requires installation of a


ticket in dongle on the commboard (pn 65045538 CommKey-A
STD 02) and Ticket In - Ticket Out (TITO) configuration.

2.2.4 Hopper
Configures the hopper handling.

2.2.4.1 General
Hopper Payout Limit:
Adjust the maximal number of coins that the hopper is al
lowed to pay out at once. Hopper pays exceeding this
limit are
handled as adjusted in “2.2.4.3 Payout Limit Procedure”.
Hopper Refill:
Enable or disable the hopper refill menu (default =
disabled). If
enabled, the refill menu is displayed in case of a hopper
empty
situation, allowing to enter the number of coins refilled.
Refill:
Allows to enter a default value for the hopper refill menu.

2.2.4.2 Empty Procedure


Configures the game behavior for the case the hopper
runs
empty during a payout.
• If hopper is empty, the left amount is handpaid.
• If hopper is empty, hopper must be refilled to
continue
payout.

2.2.4.3 Payout Limit Procedure


Configures the game behavior if the number of coins to
be
paid out exceeds the hopper payout limit.
• Over hopper payout limit, hopper pays out until
hopper
payout limit is reached, rest is handpaid.
• Over hopper payout limit, whole amount is handpaid.
• Over hopper payoutlimit, hopper pays out until amount
reaches next full hundred coins, rest is handpaid.

2.2.4.4 Jam Procedure


Configures the game behavior if a hopper jam occurs
during
a payout.
• If a hopper jam occurs, left amount is handpaid.
• If a hopperjam occurs,the hopperjam hasto be cleared.
After the hopper drawer door is opened and closed, the

This settings determine how a payout is split
into voucher pays and hopper pays.
VOUCHER 1
All credits are paid by a voucher.

VOUCHER 2
A voucher rounded to the maximal multiple of
the VOUCHER BASE VALUE is printed. The
remaining amount is paid by hopper.

HOPPER 1
The hopper pays up to the hopper payout limit.
The re maining amount is paid by a voucher.

HOPPER 2
If the payout is below hopper payout limit:
All credits are paid by hopper.
If the payout is above hopper payout limit:

This setting defines the handling of residual credits.

HOPPER
Residual credits are paid as configured with setting

VOUCHER
Residual credits are added to the voucher value.
This may result in odd voucher values, even if a voucher
base value was set.

Jackpot Receipt:
If set to enabled, a jackpot receipt is printed, when a jackpot
handpay is reset by an attendant. The receipt is intended for
casino internal accounting use only and is not cashable or
playable.
2.2.5.2 Casino Information
(Voucher Text, Ticket Data)
This menu allows to manually enter ticket data. Enter
alphanu
meric strings for casino name, address 1 and address 2
to be
printed on vouchers. Use English alphabet only.

Note: Ticket data is usually configured remotely by the host sys


tem, by sending SAS poll 7D "send ticket data". Ticket data send by
the host system has priority over manually entered ticket data.

Important: In a ticketing environment the ma


chine remains locked if ticket data is not config
ured!

2.2.5.3 Casino Information Host

Shows the ticket data configured remotely by the host

Enter the currency string to be printed in the voucher

For example: "ninety-five dollars and forty cents".

Note: Some country specific (non-english) printer firmware in


terprets the data sent by the machine. For this printers you have
to configure US-American default settings (e.g. dollar /
cent). The
printer translates this string into the country specific
string.
2.2.5.5 Currency Sign Setup
Enter the currency sign or abbreviation to be printed trailing
or leading the voucher amount.

Note: Some country specific (non-english) printer firmware inter


prets the data sent by the machine. For this printers you have to
configure US-American default settings ($). The printer translates
this symbol into the country specific symbol.

Note: When selecting a currency sign (€, $, £) make sure


the print
er firmware supports printing the selected character.
Otherwise
select a currency abbreviation instead.

2.2.5.6 Currency Format Setup


Select the currency sign position, the thousands separator
and the decimal separator to be printed on vouchers.

Default setting is American style ($ 1,000.00)

Configures sound and volume settings.
2.3.1.1 Sound Configuration

Door Open Sound:


Set the sound played on a door open event to single sound or
continuous sound.

Jackpot Sound Volume:


Set the jackpot celebration sound volume.

Starts with 100% volume and fades to the volume as ad
justed in the Base Volume menu (next page).

Adjusted
Volume as adjusted in the Base Volume menu.

Begin fading jackpot sound after:


Set the period of time after that the jackpot celebration sound
begins to fade out.

2.3.1.2 Master Volume


Set the master volume and the sub-woofer volume in this
menu. Touching the Play button plays a sample sound to

100%.

2.3.4 Touch Screen Calibration

Start Touch Screen Calibration:


This menu allows recalibration of the touch screen.

Touch the two yellow dots displayed on screen. The


controller
uses the data perceived immediately before you lift off your
finger to register a calibration touch. Therefore, you can touch
the screen, move your finger to the target, hold for a second,
and then lift your finger off. This method will results in a more
accurate calibration.

After calibration you can check the accuracy of the


calibration.
Touch the screen and check if your finger position
matches
the position of the red dot that will appear.

• If you are satisfied with the result, touch the


Accept button to continue.

• If the position does not match, touch the


Recalibrate button or wait until the countdown
timer (60 sec.) restarts the calibration.

2.4 Game

The Settings / Game menu allows to configure several game


settings.

Configures the Continuous Play feature.
When a Bet button on the button panel is pressed and
