Figure 5 Dynamic Code pm Counters

In pmSampleNumHsPdschCodesAdded the counter registers the number of

times the RBS dynamic code addition algorithm has changed the number of
codes in the cell.

In pmSumNumHsPdschCodesAdded the counter accumulates the number

of codes that has been allocated to the cell each time the RBS dynamic
HS-PDSCH code addition algorithm has changed the number of codes in the
cell. The codes that are counted are both RBS dynamically allocated and RNC
allocated codes.

Initially as many dynamic codes as possible (limited by licences and HW

capacity) are allocated for HSDPA. When there is a shortage of codes for
R99 or HSDPA traffic in a specific cell attempts to re-allocate codes will be
made. Thus the number of dynamically allocated codes in several cells may be
affected by traffic in one cell, making the counters go up for several cells even
though there is no traffic in some of them.

See necessary conditions in document Performance Statistics.

The average number of codes used can be calculated by dividing

pmSumNumHsPdschCodesAdded with pmSampleNumHspdschCodesAdded.
