SUSAN KARE (1954) the icon designer of the icons

She is an American artist and graphic designer, creator of many of Apple's

interface elements, such as the well-known Macintosh smiley icon in the 1980s.
She created icons and fonts for Apple's first Macintosh.

She was born in Ithaca (New York) she studied fine arts at the university of New
York.

She revolutionized pixel art. Her challenge was to transform small grids of black
and white pixels into a symbol that would help the user easily on a Mac.

And so she invented the dustbin, the paint can, the mythical Mac smiley icon, the
file save disk, Susan designed them all.

she designed several typefaces such as: Chicago, New York, San Francisco,
Monaco or Genoa.

She designed the outer casing of Microsoft's Windows 3.0 operating system, and
the famous solitaire cards.

Kare is currently working as the Creative Director for Pinterest and has served
companies such as Microsoft, Facebook, Intel, IBM, and other well-known
companies in the industry.

She was awarded in 2001 with the Galardon Chrysler Design Award.
