Simrad ARGUS Radar


SRT 12 and 25 kW scanner unit
Importance: Major
Units affected: SRT s/n AP431 and higher
Issue: Software malfunction/bug in version 80G

Dear colleague,

It has been reported that a software anomaly/bug in version 80G for the SRT scanner unit may prevent the
radar system operating, if a range of 3 nm or less is selected immediately after start up.

Fault description:
The SRT scanner unit may stop working if the range scale is changed to 3 nm or lower (short pulse) within
one minute from initial transmission (from Radar OFF to stand-by and to TX-ON condition).

Fault indication:
If the radar stops transmitting, you will see the alarm “TXRX Not receiving Failure”.

Recommended start procedure after power on:


1. Wait till READY
2. Press TX ON
3. Change the range scale to 24 nm or higher (if less than 24 nm)
4. Change the range scale to the desired value

Remedy if fault has occurred:


Power cycle entire system and follow above start
procedure.

Corrective action:
A new software version 80I and upgrade instruction is now
available from the Simrad Professional website.

Affected software version is 80G only.

software version.
