Objective/s:  Provide teachers with informative knowledge on the
identification of learning gaps in terms of topics and
competencies of subject taught
 Build camaraderie in the workplace
Narrative of Details:
 "Identifying learning gaps is the first step towards bridging
knowledge and unleashing the full potential of education."
In the dynamic landscape of education, identifying learning
gaps is crucial for ensuring effective and targeted instruction. In
line with the new era of education, teachers have been moving
towards to cater the learners new need. With this, Dr. Juan A.
Pastor Integrated National High School; the SHS department
had held its Subject Group Instructional Meeting. The activity
was facilitated by the master teachers focuses on the walk
through of MELCS and BOW as well as the identification of
learning gaps in terms of topics and competencies of subject
taught by each teachers held at DJAPINHS SHS Practical Area
last August 18, 2022.
OPENING PRAYER
 The program officially started with a prayer led by Ms. Arlene
Grace Aguila, Teacher II.

WELCOME REMARKS and MESSAGE
• Mrs. Irene S. Pasoquin , Master Teacher II, greeted

and welcomed the SHS teachers as she delivered her
welcome remarks and message. She also gave some insights
regarding what topics are to be discussed and shared her personal
experiences on teaching.
SESSION PROPER
The following are the highlights of the training:
 The first presenter was Ms. Donabel M. Valdez. She introduced

the learning gaps in terms of topics and competencies on the 21 st
Century Literature in the Philippines and the World subject. She
also discussed about the different kinds of gaps such as
knowledge, skill, motivation, environment and communication
gap.
 Amid the discussion, she added the importance of using
integrated activities to fill these gaps.
 The second presenters are Ms. Felice Joyce Reyes and Ms. Jaila
Mae Pagcaliwagan. They shared their experiences and insights
on the different learning gaps they encountered in teaching
Physical Education. It is then followed by other presenters like
Ms. Celica Encinas and Ms. Rona Caganan who presented the
MELCs and identified the learning gaps in the subject
EAPP,Ms. Joylene Gamboa on Oral Communication, Ms. Jenny
Rose Pasia on Tourism Management, Ms. Olive Baon on
Practical Research 2 and Personal Development and Mr.
Christoper Limon and Ms. Arlene Grace Aguila for EIM. Each
teachers/presenters shared their expertise and personal
experiences on identifying the different learning gaps on their
subject taught.
 At the end of the session, everybody agreed that through a
comprehensive analysis of both topics and competencies within
a given subject, teachers can gain valuable insights into areas
where students may require additional support or further
development. By systematically assessing the understanding and
proficiency levels of learners, teachers can discern the specific
knowledge and skills that need to be addressed. This process

allows for the customization of instructional strategies and the

creation of tailored interventions, ultimately fostering a more
inclusive and equitable learning environment. Through the
identification of learning gaps in terms of both topics and
competencies, each of them can unlock the full potential of their
students and pave the way for meaningful academic growth and
achievement.
CLOSING REMARKS
 The meeting/ training was ended with a message from Ms. Irene
S. Pasoquin, Master Teacher II.
