Saffron Soilless Culture

(Hydroponic)
Specifications: of Saffron Soilless Culture (Hydroponic)

Hydroponics means water working and it is a method of

growing plants using mineral nutrient solutions, in water,
without soil. The roots are grown in the air being very wet
or water conditioned or in some solid materials observing
humidity except soil, the water available around the roots
which supplies the nutrients of the plant contains
dominant compounds of nutrients.

Hydroponic culture makes it possible to produce much

higher yields in lieu of less work and time, the project of
saffron culture by method of hydroponic, during 2 years
of research and 8 months of implementation and
execution, finally, resulted on 11/11/2009 and research
group of the company could achieve the results
mentioned below, in this method, saffron is cultivated in
greenhouse medium and environmental conditions
controlled, instead of soil, peat moss and or rock wool is
used and the results of test is the results of saffron culture
in these two materials. In this method it is possible to
control temperature, light and nutrients needed for
saffron and make the culture period shorten and faster and
gain more yields. The result of test suggests that this
method is better method than cultivation in land and
traditional way, the main advantages of saffron
hydroponic culture project is mentioned hereunder and
then explained in details.

Enhancing the flowering period

Average Higher function (higher yield in each hectare)

Increasing the quality of saffron produced (Color (crocin)

taste (Picrocrocin) aroma (Safranal) and less humidity)

Improving the appearance quality of saffron

Gaining more flowers from each bulb of the saffron

Proportion of bulb, flower and dried saffron
