Ghost AMR Plus 7500

Ghost has beefed up his

thoroughbred all-mountain. Fine-
tuning of the kinematics and
geometry make the bike even
better.

Long spring deflections are less and less

an obstacle when it comes to a sporty
gait. 150 mm fullys are more touring-
friendly and lighter than ever, which is
why Ghost has adapted its AMR Plus to
the changing times. You can already feel
that when tuning the chassis. The
damper needs significantly less air
pressure, is much more sensitive than
before and, thanks to the new platform
logic of the Fox RP23, offers a reasonable
adjustment range, perfectly matching the
Talas RLC fork model. The suspension
works from buttery soft to tight,
depending on how you tune it. We did
best with platform position one. Level
three is needed at best on long asphalt
climbs. Just as you feel the steep 74 seat
tube angle when climbing (positively), the
slack 66.5 degree angle is noticeable
when steering. The quite sluggish
steering behavior is unusual for an All
Mountain, but it is very smooth at high
speeds. The bike is not lacking in these:

The mighty aluminum frame is not only

rock-solid on our test stand (84
Nm/degree), but it also rides like this.
Steering precision at the highest level,
thanks to the 1.5 inch head tube and thru
axles. This makes the bike extremely
suitable for tall and/or strong riders.
However, the scales show a weight of 3.7
kilos for a frame with a damper, which in
2012 does not deserve a medal. But
otherwise we liked the bike all round: the
tire width fits the area of use, the same
applies to the telescopic seat post with
handlebar remote control. Shimano's XT
group will probably overtake the XTR, the
feel and look are judged to be great.

The chassis offers a wide range of tuning

options and has improved significantly
compared to the previous model. When
the AMR Plus 7500 rolls onto the market
in this configuration for around 2800
euros (the price was not definitely fixed at
the time of testing), it deserves a buy tip
and puts a lot of pressure on the
competition.

Conclusion : Nobody needs more All

Mountain. The 2012 AMR-Plus is versatile
and effective, reasonably equipped but a
bit heavy.

PLUS chassis function, good, complete

equipment, stiff frame
MINUS relatively heavy

The AMR rear triangle works noticeably

better than its predecessor, thanks to
modified kinematics and needle
bearings.

The operation of the Fox RP 23 damper

has to be re-learned. The open position
allows two platform modes, the closed
position automatically switches to the
hardest platform.

The rear end with the Fox RP 23 is

extremely sensitive and harmonises well
with the fork. The Fox Talas are only
slightly firmer with short spring travel.
