Prayer

Thank you, Father for this wonderful day that you have granted
us, as we are about to study your word help us to understand it
clearly and blessed the one who is going to share us your word
this evening and give him more wisdom and anointing, in Jesus
name I pray

Introduction

I welcome you all to today's study in the name of the Lord Jesus
Christ. Our focus is still on how to get to that glorious home, I
believe that we are seriously preparing to meet our Beloved
Savior.

We would be considering a wide topic today which has a lot to do

with the dangerous time we are in. This study by the Holy Spirit
will open the eyes of understanding of many and their spiritual
discernments will be sharpened! Please follow carefully, those
who would make it to Heaven must not be ignorant of Satan's
schemes.

Study

Today, we are looking at something important to our final

destination after our race on Earth.

Romans 14:12:

"So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God."

So, let's start with KJV.

If we are talking about accounts, what do we mean? I'm quite

sure a lot of us would have thought about our bank accounts.
Some of us might even be making use of more than one bank
account and we are already thinking about the amount of money
we have in each, Hallelujah! Smiles, it's a normal thing as a
human being since we are still on the Earth to sometimes be
quick to have to think about things we can feel with our sense
organs far more than things which we cannot feel with our sense
organs.

However, the account we are stating here is not our usual bank
account. Let's quickly look at what it means.

The word, account as used in the text above means "Logos" in

the Greek which means to answer or explain in reference to
judgment. It also means reckoning, score.

Have you ever heard of preachers or teachers saying "the day of

reckoning is near"? If you have heard them say so, you will
understand what I'm trying to pass across. So, can we just input
the true meaning of the word into the KJV version?

Romans 14:12:

"So then every one of us shall give explanation in reference to

judgment of himself to God."

This is a very powerful scriptures which we ought to meditate on

daily as we live to please God. The more we remember and
meditate on this scripture, the more we incorporate the fear of
God into whatsoever action we plan executing.

The other day, a friend sent me a video of how a particular set of

people were cutting the body of a human being as though they
were cutting that of a goat. The friend actually sent it in order to

ask to know the set of people who I think might be doing such a
thing but the moment I began watching it and knew what was
there, I couldn't watch further. I was cut to the heart and nearly
cried. There could be humans who can go to the extent of cutting
and butchering the bodies of their fellow human beings and still
have the audacity to capture the video and post online.

I was really cut to the heart and my soul was vexed. Why did I say
this? It's majorly to show us that if those people know the
efficacy and the truth in this verse, they would have changed and
be serious with their lives.

Let's look at what NLT says.

Romans 14.12:

Yes, each of us will have to give a personal account to God. [NLT]

I want us to note the words EACH and PERSONAL. It says we will

all give personal accounts of our lives to God, each of us. We will
not come together as 5 or 10 people to give accounts of what we
did together. No! But each of us will stand and give personal
accounts. Your parents or spouses cannot stand for you to help
give your accounts, you will be the one to give the account of
what you did.

Let's look at the TPT version. I so much love what it says.

Romans 14:12 TPT

Therefore, each one must answer for himself and give a personal
account of his own life before God.

Each one must answer for himself and give a personal account of
his OWN LIFE before God. You are not going to be asked to give
an account of another's life but your own life.

Lastly, before we go fully into some things, let's look at one more
version.

Romans 14:12 EASY

So each of us will have to explain to God about the things that we

have done.

We will have to explain those things we have done. It doesn't

matter if we had done them secretly or openly, we will explain
them because there is no where the eyes of God cannot see. This
is why if as a Christian, you still masturbate secretly, yet people
hail you publicly as a man if God but you know that in the secret,
you masturbate, you will explain on that day and every eyes will
see and hear what you have been doing, because it will be done
openly.

If you are also pretending to be a man of God but you operate

with charms, you will also give an explanation for that. You will
explain why you left the authentic power of God and chose to go
after mere gods, after the bible says that we shouldn't make any
graven image of our God.

Just know that no matter what you have been doing either
secretly or openly, you shall give an explanation on why you did
it.

One thing which really matters in this life is doing what pleases
God which you will be able to defend in accordance with His
word whenever you are called to defend it. Let's start from using
examples we are familiar with.

When a person is sued in court, such a person must hire a lawyer

to stand for him, right? What is the lawyer trying to do? To help
defend such a prosecutor or suspect. What happens if the lawyer
is not able to convince the judge of the right thing which could

justify his client? Such suspects might later end up going to

prison.

No matter whether the suspect is guilty or not, if the lawyer is

not able to defend him appropriately, such a suspect still goes to
prison or is sentenced to death even if he is not guilty. A lot of
people are in prison presently, serving the punishment of the
actions they didn't commit and some are mainly because they
couldn't get a standard and intelligent lawyer to stand for them
in the court of law.

Now, that of the last day is quite different. You cannot hire a
lawyer to stand for you but you will be the one to be the lawyer
of yourself and defend the actions you did on Earth. But, one
thing you should know is that, which wisdom can you use to
convince someone who created wisdom itself to believe that
what you did was right, except if you had truly done the right
things according to the word of God.

We have been talking about accounts and what it means to give

accounts. Let's now look at some of those things we will give
account on.

Some of the things we will account for:

1. You will account for your works:

Matt 16:27:

"For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his
angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his
works."

Upon every work you put in, you will account for it and this will
determine the reward you receive. Any action you make,
especially the bad ones, you will give account of everything. If
you are the type that sleeps with the opposite sex anyhow and

anywhere, you don't care, you just like doing rubbish, you will
account for it.

Any action you do, ensure that you will always be proud to give
an account of it on the last day. If as a businessman, you always
know how to manipulate things including your date of birth to
just give you an added advantage, you will account for that. It's
all written in your account.

As a wife, you don't submit to your husband because he earns

lower than you earn and because he is presently struggling to
feed the family, you now disrespect and disregard him, you will
account for that because God made him the head but you have
made him the tail.

As a husband too, if you beat your wife and keep threatening to

marry another wife just to keep your wife as a slave under you,
you lack love and you will give account of the bad treatment you
give your wife.

2. You will give account of your idle words:

Matt 12:36:

"But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak,
they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment."

Let's quickly check some versions.

DLNT Disciples’ Literal New Testament, 2011

Matt 12:36:

"And I say to you that every useless word which people will speak
— they will render an account for it on the day of judgment."

“I can guarantee that on judgment day people will have to give

an account of every careless word they say."

NLV New Life Version

Matt 12:36:

"I say to you, on the day men stand before God, they will have to
give an answer for every word they have spoken that was not
important."

Note the bolded words carefully. It shows that idle words are not
only the vulgar words we speak but even including those words
that are not important which we speak and also the careless
words we speak.

If as a Christian, you do not thoroughly purge yourself with the

word, you might be surprised to find yourself speaking those
words the people of the world do speak. A lot of slang is out there
and it's painful that some even incorporate it into the church just
to gain a crowd.

Careless words can be spoken when a person does not guide his
emotions. The devil is so good at keeping records of the things
we say as long as he would be able to use them against us. This is
why the bible says in

Col 4:6:

"Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that
ye may know how ye ought to answer every man."

Grace should always accompany our speech. A child of God and a

child of destiny does not speak because he feels like but speaks
because it is necessary and important at that point in time.

Up to the songs we sing, we really need to be careful because we

will give account of every idle word. Those so called little idle

words you speak and joke with saying that you are only playing
with, you will give account of everything.

Jesus only spoke when it was necessary for Him to. There were
times Jesus was asked questions but he ever responded
immediately, which means it's not every question that desires
your answer as a child of God. The devil will push you to say
things but you really have to be careful.

Those sensitive words you say to the opposite sex who is not
your wife, you will give account of them as you are trying to
increase the sexual urge of the opposite sex you are not married
to. Let this always ring in your heart that it would be written and
stored in your account!

3. You will give account for those committed to your hands:

Heb 13:17:

"Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves:
for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account,
that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is
unprofitable for you."

Whether you are a pastor, teacher, apostle, evangelist or prophet,

whatsoever office or calling you might be called into, you will
give account if the souls God has put under you. This is why we
truly need to be very careful that we are not misleading others
through what we say or teach.

A lot of church leaders these days are grooming their

congregation for hell fire instead of heaven because of the
heretical teachings they teach day by day. They will surely give
account for the misleading of those souls because the souls were
placed under them.

Whatever work that is committed into your hands, you are to do

it with joy and total obedience to God without compromising His
standard. This is why we need to teach what God wants whether
it pleases men or not. Men didn't send us but God did and we will
give account to Him only.

As a parent, you will give account over the children God placed
under you to train in His ways. Are you training them to be like
Christ or you are the one introducing them into different forms
of addictions and immoralities through your bad actions? It
would be written in your account.

Sometimes, when I see the way some children dress and still
follow their parents out, I just wonder if such a parent is blind to
see such a thing but it is a pity that some of these parents are
actually approving of those things, thinking and saying it's
fashionable. Hmmm, you will give account over those children
because God placed you as a parent over them to train them in
His ways.

Lastly,

4. You will give account of your stewardship:

Luke 16:2:

"And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of
thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no
longer steward."

We are all stewards whether we believe it or not because talents

and gifts have been entrusted in our hands. It is left to us to
manage these gifts and talents. Some were actually given the
talent to sing but they are singing for the devil, you will account
for it. Some can act but they are acting in movies that promote
sexual immoralities.

The talents you were given but chose to use to satisfy your flesh
and not God, you will give account to Him that gave you the
talent. You will explain how you managed the resources you were
given. If the gift of healing you were given is that you started
trading for money and selling anointing oil just to extort money
from people, you will give an account.

Whatever has been committed to your hands, you are to manage

them very well because you will give account on how you
managed them.

We have been able to look at some of those things we will give

account of. However, in case of any bad record that might have
been recorded concerning us, what can we do to wash them and
begin a clean slate?

1. If you are not Born again, kindly become born again. This will
give you a clean slate and all your recorded or bad accounts
would be washed by the Blood of the Lamb.

2. If you are a Christian and you know you are guilty of some of
those things, repent and seek forgiveness. Retrace your steps to
the right part and pray that every bad record and account of
yours should be washed away by the blood of Jesus.

3. Start following the directives of the Spirit. Follow whatsoever

the Holy Spirit tells you to do and this will help you make the
right choices per time per season.

4. Always be very close to the scriptures. This will always make

you know the right direction to tread and those things you are to
do. It will serve as a guide alongside the Holy Spirit.

5. Most importantly, live with Heaven in view. Live as though

Jesus is coming tomorrow or as though you will die tomorrow.
This will make you consciously work towards making heaven.

Jesus, have mercy and wash them off by your blood, in Jesus
name.
