Today we will talk about the Peruvian person we admire the most.
Hipolito Unanue considered the father of Peruvian medicine and one of the founders of the

San Fernando School of Medicine, currently a faculty of the UNMSM.He was born on August

13, 1755 in the city of Arica. His parents were Miguel Antonio Unanue y Montalivet and

Manuela Pavón y Salgado de Araujo. His family was of low economic resources.He was

considered the "Father of Peruvian Medicine" and a national hero, for which reason his

remains have been found in the Panteón de los Próceres de la Nación since October 1927.

Both recognitions are the result, on the one hand, of his outstanding activity. as a doctor at

the end of the Colony as a promoter of a modernizing and scientific current; and on the

other, because of the role he played in political power during the transit between the Colony

and the Republic.
