Installation Flexor Junior Series software V 4.1.0

Introduction

Dear distributor,

This kit is designed to upgrade Vitalab Junior series instruments.

This new software gives you a wide range of new features which are described in brief in the last
chapter of this instruction.

Please read the user manual to get a full understanding of this new software before the instrument
is put in to use and inform the user regarding the new possibilities of this new software release.
The software is compatible with Windows 2000® and Windows XP® operating systems.

A new host protocol based on the LIS-2A standard is introduced, the former host protocol is still
available and compatible with the former V 1.x.x software.

The following languages are supported in this software release:

Chinese
English
French
German
Italian
Portuguese
Russian
Spanish

Results of measurements performed in the former software version can not be

accessed in the new platform. If you need to access the results for regulatory
affairs you have to keep a copy of the former software on your system (described
in this upgrade instruction).

This upgrade is not possible on 3410 computers.

Migration from a former software version is not possible, reprogramming of the

application is necessary.

We always try to be as complete as possible but we can imagine that questions remain after
reading this service information. Please feel free to contact us in case of any questions.

for a complete overview and a description of the new possibilities.

 Printouts
Presentation on printouts has been improved.
Default printouts of result will print as many patient reports as will fit on one page.
Extended report setup possibilities.
Printouts will be generated as soon as measuring on tests has been completed,
printouts may contain *INFO* messages indicating that result is not yet finalized.
Daily maintenance report printout can be reprinted at any time.

 Passwords
Important parameters can be protected with a password. This password limits
access to test parameters, control parameters, calibration parameters, service
menu, system configuration, etc.
The number of available positions for test programming can be limited by use of
special password.

 Calculated Results
Calculated results can be defined freely as a formula.
A calculated result can be requested for a sample, the software will automatically
request the tests needed to calculate the result.
A calculated result will be printed on default printouts.

 Request samples
Order of entry fields on screen changed.
Sample types for regular samples renamed to reflect priority: Stat, Asap, and
Routine (instead of sample types: Stat, pediatric, normal, which isn’t translatable to
non-clinical use).
Order of tests can be defined by the user.
Different method for requesting controls, single screen to define control request
including possibility to define repeats.
Possibility to configure for batch oriented test requesting.

 Host
New additional host protocol: CLSI LIS2-A (formerly NCCLS LIS2-A which was
formerly ASTM E1394-97). Reagent position independent, Instrument independent.
Host query support in LIS2-A host protocol.
Results can be transmitted to host as soon as they are ready. Previously results
where not transmitted until all results for a sample where ready.
Host can be connected by TCP/IP as well as Serial port.

 Test parameters
It is possible to view/access test parameters while the instrument is active.
Layout of test parameter programming has been improved.
Additional units can be defined: Abs, dAbs, dAbs/m.
It is possible to set a repeat value 1 – 3 for a test. The instrument will use the
average absorbance measurement to calculate the concentration.
It is possible to set a duplicate difference limit on repeats. This means that repeats
must lie within a certain range of each other or the result will be flagged.
Number of decimals can be set to 4.
Concentration limits define the valid area for results. Results outside the
concentration limits will be presented as:
< x.xxx mmol/l BELOW ANALYTICAL SENSITIVITY
> y.yyy mmol/l ABOVE ASSAY RANGE
(x.xxx and y.yyy are the lower and upper concentration limit, mmol/l the selected
unit)
Predilution allows for any dilution between 1:5 and 1:100 (also 1:97, 1:60, etc.)
Sample blank can be set to ‘on request’ meaning that at time of request a sample
blank can be requested (or not) depending on the quality of the sample.
When programming reagent volumes and measuring times, a graphical feedback is
provided showing the execution of the test.
When no reagent addition is needed at R2 timing, the R3 reagent will be referred to
as the second reagent.
Results will be corrected for predilution.
Reagent volumes for R2 and R3 can be set to max. 280 ≥ µl.
For two-point measurements it is now possible to select the point before sample
addition (previously indicated by -4 for one reagent tests) in case of two and three
reagent tests. (necessary for HbA1c tests).

 Calibrations
Additional curve fit routines:
Standard cubic spline – the textbook cubic spline function with draws a curve
through all the calibration points.
Smoothed cubic spline – the cubic spline function from Junior v1.2. It tries to draw
as smooth a cubic spline function as possible and may deviate from calibration
points if it results in a smoother function.
Point-to-point – A linear line is drawn from each calibration point to the next
Linear Regression – A linear line is drawn trying to stay as close to the calibration
points as possible.
4-point Logit-log, 5-point Logit-Log, 5-point exponential Logit-log – Logit-log
functions.
Possibility to define duplicate difference limits on individual calibration points.
Possibility to require operator evaluation of calibration curve.
For prediluted calibrators it is possible to use a diluent-only as 0-standard.
Factors used for calibration curve can be inspected.
Printout contains all calibration information on a single page.
Check for absorbance values outside calibration range. Values of +- 1% of lowest
and highest calibrator get flagged with outside calibration range flag.
Possible to select which standards from a multi-standard calibrator are to be used.

 Controls
When programming a control with Westgard checks, only a Standard deviation
needs to be provided.
