Writing Activity - A Holiday Tradition

INTI RAYMI
In Ecuador the inti raymi belonging to the Andean culture is celebrated, this celebration is
carried out to give gratitude to the Paccha Mama for the good production and harvest. The
Inti Rayni festivities are when people dance in honor of the sun, there is a dance called
"Purification of fire", where they light bonfires and offer offerings to the sun. The tributes
that people offer are food, such as fruits, corn and sacrificed animals, they also include
ancestral music, they perform plays that tell stories, all the people gather and share drinks,
food, sing and perform prayers. In conclusion the Inti Raymi as people sing, feast, and offer
prayers, the Inti Raymi becomes a cherished time of connection, where Ecuadorians express
their gratitude to the Paccha Mama and embrace their ancestral traditions.
