NFC & PFC
NFC hydraulic system using following sensors to modulate the pump
 Front pump output oil pressure / Front pump control oil pressure
 Rear pump output oil pressure / Rear pump control oil pressure
 NFC oil pressure: picked up at the outlet port of control valve central passage.
 Control oil pressure is the maximum when all the pilot valves are in the
neutral position.
PFC hydraulic system using following sensors to modulate the pump
 Front pump output oil pressure
 Rear pump output oil pressure
 9 pilot oil pressure sensors
 As the pilot valve control lever is moved farther away from the neutral
position, the pilot oil pressure increased. This increased pilot oil pressure
was sent to the controller, controller then varied the current output to
the pump PRV which modulate the pump output.
 Software of NFC and PFC system is quite different. Do not confuse them.

Hex electrical control system consist of:
 Input components: temperature sensors,
pressure sensors, speed sensors, switches and
so on. Signals were pick up and send to
controller.
 Controller: electronic power system EPS. Accept
and treat the input signal and then send
signals to the output components.
 Output components: injectors, gauges,
solenoids, governor actuator, servo valves, and
so on. All these components are all the actuator
just like the cylinder, motors, hyd pump.

Engine speed control system operation:
 Dial switch changed, the electrical potential changed.

 The changed potential was inputted into the


controller EPS.

 EPS controller output a pulse signal to the governor

1. There are two pressure sensors on the main


hydraulic pump:

Pressure sensor was used to pick up oil pressure


signal. The picked up oil pressure signal was then
transformed into electric signal and sent to the
controller.

System operation – pump power control
 Oil pressure signal picked up by pressure sensor, reflect
the working load and pilot valve’s travel distance from
neutral, was transformed into electric signal and send to
the machine controller.

 Controller calculated out the power that pump should


output and sent proper current to the proportional
solenoid valve of the pump.

 Pump servo valve changed the angle of the pump


swashplate. Pump power changed as requirement.

1、Sany hex has AEC function:
a. Pilot valve return to neutral position for more than 5 seconds.
b. Pressure switch detected the pressure signal and sent an
electric signal to controller EPS.
c. Controller sent a signal to governor actuator and drop engine
speed to 1400 rpm. Energy was saved and noise was reduced.
d. Any of the pilot valves were moved from neutral position.
Engine speed will be restored rapidly.

3、Engine overheating protection:

a. If coolant temperature up to
warning range, working

1. Circuit breaker is located in the storage box where


the battery was installed. If it failed, the whole
machine will have no electric power supplied.

a. hyd lock solenoid.

3. Battery is located in the storage box. Refer to below


photos. Two batteries are series connected.

4. Hydraulic lock switch is operated by the hydraulic
activation control level. When this switch was closed,
electric power was sent to the hydraulic lock solenoid
located on the pilot manifold.

• Pre-heat: preheat the inlet air before starting in cold days.


• Off: power off.
• On: machine was powered on. Engine can be started or not.
• Start: starting engine.

Auto engine speed control
Function:
 When all the operating levers are in the neutral position, decrease the engine
speed to reduce the fuel consumption and noise.

Operation:
 After the operating lever returns to the neutral position for 3 seconds, the
diesel engine runs with low speed automatically.
 Hydraulic oil neutral flow loss can be lessened and the diesel engine wear is
reduced.
 The functions of energy-saving and noise reduction are achieved.
 When the operating lever is pulled to work again, the diesel engine
automatically resumes the former speed condition.

Exit the automatic idle status:


 Operate the operating lever.
 Press the idle cancel switch

Electronic system has following functions:

 Carry out dyno modulation to hydraulic pump


automatically as per the working load.
 Pump and engine co-operated properly. Engine had
suited power output for hydraulic pump.
 Travel speed can be selected.

different type of engine.

Electronic controlled engines have almost the same
structure with the mechanic engines:
 Air inlet and exhaust system --- similar.
 Cooling system --- similar.

Basic components – cylinder block, cylinder head, flywheel,
crankshaft, con-rod, piston, damper, pulley, front housing,
flywheel housing, and so on.
Fuel system – fuel tank, water-fuel separator, fuel filter,

governor (actuator), ECM, sensors, and so on.

In 1837,the first excavator was invented in America,
which was powered by the steam engine.

In 1900,the first diesel engine-excavator was invented.

In 1954,the first total-hydraulic excavator was invented in


Germany.

In 1961, hydraulic excavator was introduced to Japan from

In 1985,the first computer-controlled hydraulic excavator


was invented.

Hitachi characteristic
Although Hitachi announced to use 100% genuine Hitachi-Made parts, but
many of it’s key parts coming form global sourcing, such as Chinese
suppliers, and so on.

The speed of ZX-3 series excavators is good, but some models have the
high fuel consumption complaint.

The EFI engine fuel injection nozzle counts on the high quality fuel, which is
not available in many places. Hitachi offers no warranty to injector failure.
Although the high-efficiency filter but problem was failed to solved .

Most of the users have turned to other brands due to Hitachi’s strict and
tedious warranty claim.

Hitachi excavators have oil leakage problem which is the worst among all
the brands.

Caterpillar characteristics
1. Caterpillar excavator’ performance is good, but price is excessively
high which comes from it’s brand rather than it’s quality.

2. Working noise of the main hydraulic pump is the biggest among all
the brands, which reduced the service life of the pump. Customer
frequently complain about the working noise and the pump failure.

3. Key components like undercarriage, stick, boom, bucket, cylinders,


cab, counterweight, hydraulic pipe are from domestic suppliers.

4. The service response speed is slow and complicated .Customer has


to wait a long time before problem reached through sales rep,
supervisor to service engineers.

5. Workshop repair interval is long and costly. Customer had to take


the long down time loss and expensive repair cost.
6. Caterpillar co-operates with Mitsubishi in Asia using Mitsubishi
excavator product-line. Mitsubishi logo can be found at connecting
rod of Caterpillar engine.
7. 320D phase2 excavator use EFI engine. The fuel injector has to be
replaced each1,500 hours with a costs of 30,000 RMB.
8. Fuel injection pump service life is short, and it’s repair work is
expensive.
9. Using the triple-core filter which brings high maintenance costs.
