CONCEPT PAPER – FISH FARMING / AQUACULTURE

1. FISH FARMING / AQUA CULTURE:

a. What it is?
Fish farming is a form of aquaculture that involves raising fish in enclosures for
food production. Aquaculture is the farming of aquatic organisms, such as fish,
shellfish, and aquatic plants, in freshwater, coastal, and marine environments.

b. Composition
The main composition of fish farming are water cages to farm fish in. cages
depend on the type of fish which will be farmed. Boats to monitor and feed the
fish. Building needed to keep essential supplies and manpower for farming, also
for storing the fish in there.

c. Production Process
There are five stages in the fish farming:
i) Installing cages and building for farming.
ii) Choosing the species fish to be farmed in those cages.
iii) Feeding, care and management of the fish and then harvesting it.
iv) Degutting, cutting of the heads and other necessary butchery required prior
freezing the fish.
v) Freezing the fish.

d. Plant Cost
The cost of a 1333-cage plant with building is about Rs. billion approx.

e. Pre-Requisites

i) Material Requirement
Required Materials will be cages, boats, building for management and
storage of fish.
Bahria Foundation can take land from Pakistan Navy in Damb where PN has
1000+ acres of land, BF can take 10 acres of land on sea shore and build
cages in same vicinity of the land.
ii) Environmental & Legislative Requirements

b. External Requirement 1,500TPD

c. Quarry Production Capacity Depends

d. Plant Production Capacity 7,500TPD

4. TOLL / CONTRACT MANUFACTURING

a. Use own Quarry
FWO can extract its own limestone and get the Cement made from Bestway.

b. Out-source production
FWO can get cement produced from Bestway or Dandot, under toll/contract
manufacturing arrangement and can save money.

c. Branding of IBEX Cement

The Cement produced under toll/ contract manufacturing arrangement will be
packed in FWO’s own brand, “IBEX”. This cement will mainly be used on our
sites and will be sold in the selective market, not competing against our toll
manufacturers.
5. TEAM REQUIREMENT
a. Supply Chain Manager- HQ FWO
b. Query Manager on-Site
c. Factory Supervisor.

6. CONCLUSION / BIGGER PICTURE

Toll Manufacturing is a way to get the know-how of the industry while benefiting
financially from internal consumption. Finally establishing IBEX cement factory from
profit earned.
