What is Torutre??

Torture is an act were the dominator punishes his subject by any means he thinks be it physical, mental or even sexual so that he can break the resistance of his subject and get him to do what he (punisher) may desire. Now let us discuss the given scenario If you had this prisoner and all of the details were the same except he had no family but he agreed that if you were to tie your mother to a chair with a gun bolted to a table pointed at her and the let his buddies torture your father until he pulled the trigger killing you mother and thereby saving all the people in L.A. and N.Y.C. would you accept that deal? Torture is immoral and illegal. We have prosecuted and convicted others for torture. We as a country have existed in a pattern of signing treaties when they were to our liking and disregarding them when we choose to. In your scenario you have outlined a situation to try to justify an innocent little girl being tortured. As a disabled American veteran I can say I would be appalled to think that anyone would torture a child in my name. It makes me ashamed of my country to think that we violate international law that we agreed to and believe we can do so and be held harmless. America was once strong because it promoted an ideology that was attractive and worth defending but in this the information age it is becoming evident that America does not practice what it preaches but expects the world to bow before us. Why did 9/11 happen in America instead of Japan, China, Canada, England, and Australia...? The list goes on. Why not in some other Christian country? Because we are arrogant interlopers who meddle in other countries and apparently from time to time there are those who retaliate. If we want to occupy the moral high ground then we must be moral people. If we want the respect of the world then we must be respectable. We must be that which we take pride in being or we are just the biggest bully on the block and from time to time will get our nose bloodied until we get our butts kicked. We are all tax payers into a system that abuses other countries and therefore we are all subject to hate. If we do not take responsibility for what our government and corporations do in other countries then we will pay the price. Now I must add that I am not against justified war against an aggressor but then when we are seen as the aggressor.
