a. SCOPE OF INSPECTION:
1. Pre-dispatch inspection (PDI) will be carried out by NPCIL, QA. After award of purchase
order, supplier has to submit Quality Assurance Plan (QAP) to NPCIL for approval. QAP
must include all the offered tests details, acceptance criteria, etc. Also, QAP must indicate
test certificates to be submitted with the supply.

C. TECHNICAL DETAILS:
I. Tentative sketch of hydraulic multistud tensioner assembly is attached for reference. After
award of purchase order but before production of material, supplier has to submit its own
drawing to NPCIL for approval.
2. Multistud tensioner is capable of tensioning all 20 studs of the manhole cover simultaneously
(as shown in drg.).
3. The MULTISTUD TENS[ONER consist of a complete ring encapsulating all hydraulic
cylinders and geared tightening mechanism which can be easily assembled on the manhole
cover plate. The MULTISTUD TENSIONER will be capable of pre-stressing the studs to
meet the operational and hydrostatic test conditions.
4. The MULTISTUD TENSIONER is supplied complete with reaction nuts which screw onto
the working studs and fix the MULTISTUD TENSIONER in position. Once the
MULTISTUD TENSIONER has been fitted to the cover plate a hydraulic manifold is fitted.
A link pipe (minimum 1500 bar rating) is then used to connect the hydraulic manifold to the
hydraulic pump unit. An airline (max. pressure around 7 bars) is then connected to the
hydraulic pump unit (rating 1500 bar however can go upto 2250 bar)) and the system is then
ready to operate.
5. Included with the MULTISTUD TENSIONER are dial indicators and adaptors which are
screwed into the top of the studs and connect with the central rods to measure stud
elongation.
6. The design of the MULTISTUD TENSIONER is such that it should require decontamination
at any stage the process can be carried out without any detlimenta] effect to the multistud
tensioner.
7. Hydraulic pump is of standard material of pump as stainless steel, with rating more than
2250 bar. It is compact, robust and designed for simplicity and speed of operation.
Tentatively, the unit measures 380 mm x 400 mm x 440 mm and weight less than 28 kgs. It
comprises of a pump mounted in a tubular frame, containing an oil reservoir and all air/oil
valves and fittings. Link pipe assembly shall be having fittings & of 5.0 in-1500 bar-with
protection sleeve. Y-pipe assembly having fittings & of 2.0 in-1500 bar-with protection
sleeve.
8. The weight of multi-stud tensioner shall be less than 300 kgs.
9. Supplier has to check stud material & dimensions & woi`k out operating pressures. The
required pressure is 1500 bar (minimum).
10. Graph of I/ongczz/.o# vs czpp/I.ec7press"j'e to be given & procedure for stud tensioning to be
provided.
11. Stroke shall be of range 8 mm to 12 mm.
12. Tentative hydraulic pressure area is 4272 mm2 approx.
13. Tentative maximum applied load shall be approx. 65340 kgf.
