Introduction:
-We have a reservoir model in clastic environment which includes NO. of zone with channel and
bars
-We need to distribute a proper porosity in each zone to fit the heterogeneity in the reservoirs
-We will calculate a porosity map for each zone using structure map to identify the concept which
we have in which porosity decreases as depth increase (related to the depositional compaction)
-We will go through the below simple steps to get the result by which we be able to use those
porosity maps as 2D trend to implement 3D petrophysical modeling.
Step #1

From well tops>> MB3 on Attributes>> Insert new attributes>> continuous>> use
porosity template
Step #2

From Attribute operations>> calculate average porosity for all zones as in stratigraphic
framework
Step #3

From well tops>> stratigraphic>> insert zone3>> use porosity attributes>> using
isochore from suggest setting from input and insert the reference structure horizon as a
trend surface in pre proc pane
Step #4

In Algorithm tab>>use convergent interpolation>> apply the min/max value of

porosity into zone 3 by using zone spreedsheet to eliminate any interpolated data
out of porosity data range
• Conclusion:
- Now you have a porosity map for zone of interest associated with the structural relief to fit the
heterogeneity conceptual model
- You are able to use this map as horizontal trend in petrophysical model
- This practice is working very good in clastic reservoirs with channel and bars environment
- As we show in above display the porosity map reflect the concept of the structure relief.
