The FIS consists of two Attitude Director Indicator (ADI), two Electronic Horizontal Situation indicator (EHS!) system, and a Comparator Waring Computer. An Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS), with or without a Multifunction Display (MFD) is offered as an optional configuration replacing the basic FIS. The AHRS is a microcomputer based system which provides attitude and heading information to cockpit instruments and other equipment on the aircraft. ‘Area Navigation System (one or two RNAV) and Omega Navigation System, a second transponder, a second ADF radio, a third VHF navigation radio, a second DME, and another different weather radar are also offered as optional equipment. 16 DECEMBER 1985 6.173 SYSTEMS DESCRIPTION € emeracr evei2O Brasitia = OPERATIONS MANUAL FLIGHT INSTRUMENT SYSTEM (FIS) GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Flight Instrument System consists of the Attitude Director Indicator (ADI-84), the Electronic HSI System (Collins EHSI-74), and the Comparator Waming Computer (CWC-66).. The ADI display consists of the following: pitch and roll attitude from Attitude Heading Reference ‘System (AHRS), pitch and roll steering commands from steering computers, glide slope and localizer deviation from navigation receivers, slip or skid information from the inclinometer, and decision height from the radio altimeter system. ‘The EFD-74 system consists of a panel-mounted Electronic Flight Display (EFD-74), a panel-mounted HSI Control Panel (HCP-74), and a remote-mounted HSI Processor Unit (HPU-74) In the EFD-74, the information now found on the conventional electromechanical HSI will be displayed on the color cathode ray tube, thus becoming an electronic HSI (EHSI). The HCP provides switches and rotary controls for EHS! display mode control, dimming, bearing Pointer selection, selected heading control, heading synchronization, selected course control, and direct-to-course. ‘The HPU provides the necessary deflection and video signals for the electronic flight display. The unit also provides deviation, flag and error signals to the flight control system. ‘The CWC is an attitude comparator which provides a comparison between pilot's and copilot’s basic attitude display. Its outputs warn the pilot of a possible instrument malfunction. 16 DECEMBER 1985 6174 16-171-001 €emsrncr EmBI20 @rasilia ATTITUDE DISPLAY (MULTIPLE ALARM PANEL) aeviFoi =| cstoci——| anes) DH (RAD ALT=) ‘SYSTEMS DESCRIPTION NAVIGATION OPERATIONS MANUAL COMPARATOR WARNING COMPUTER. oureuts TOFLIGHT, DEFLECTION ‘CONTROL Hvipeo' ‘SYSTEM ISIGNALS AIRCRAFT LIGHTING POWER (PILOT'S PANEL) ourrurs DeFLecTiON Sorucrr silltES conte | | Svorew AIRCRAFT LIGHTING POWER. HEADING SELECT KNOB (HDG) — Controls the selected heading displayed on the EHSI. The knob provides 1-degree increments of selected heading when tured slowly. A variable rate sensor provides larger increments when the HDG knob is turned at a faster rate. . HEADING SYNCHRONIZATION BUTTON (PUSH HDG SYNC) ~ When pressed, causes the heading bug to rotate and match the airplane heading under the lubber line on the EHSI. An automatic HDG SYNC function is performed whenever the navigation mode is changed (i.e., from VOR to ILS or RNAV to VOR ete.) when the autopilot is not in HDG mode. BEARING SELECTION ~ The NV1, ADF and NV2 buttons control which bearing pointer is displayed on the EHSI. The bearing pointer is selected by pressing the desired pushbutton. The bearing pointers removed from display by pressing again its pushbutton or by selecting another bearing pointer. A bearing pointer will not appear when the navaid is tuned to an ILS frequency. ‘When RNAV is the navigation source, pressing the NV1 buttcn the first time displays the ‘waypoint bearing and pressing the NV1 button again removes the waypoint bearing pointer and displays the VOR bearing pointer. . INTENSITY CONTROL (INT) — Controls intensity of the HSI . COURSE SELECT KNOB (CRS) — Controls the course arrow displayed on the EHSI. The knob provides 1-degree increments of selected course when turned siowly. A variable rate sensor Provides larger increments when the CRS knob is turned at a faster rate. . COURSE DIRECT TO BUTTON (PUSH CRS DIRECT) — When pressed, the course arrow automatically rotates until the navigation source selected provides zero lateral deviation. . DISPLAY FORMAT SELECTION — The HSI, ARC, and MAP buttons control the display formats. HSI selects full compass fose format display in the EHSI. ARC selects an expanded compass sector (approximately 80 degrees) with alphanumerics displayed in the comers of the display. MAP adds a pictorial presentation of the navigation situation to the compass sector. Navigation data include VOR/DME station location, active waypoint location and course line. 116 DECEMBER 1985 6.176 16-171-001 116-171-001
