Women's physicality in sports became more accepted as

the century proceeded. Women who were not as feminine

faced prejudice as well, and were sometimes termed
"homosexual" as a disparaging phrase. Although many
women still feel confined by stereotypes, we see towards
the end of the film that pictures of women as athletes,
rather than athletes as women, are increasingly
acceptable. All of the films we viewed presented different
viewpoints on how the image of women is located in our
culture. We explored a variety of viewpoints and attitudes
on the correct role of women in sports, from the first film,
Dare to Compete, which highlighted the development of
women's participation in sports, to Love and Basketball,
which fully accepts women's participation in sports.
