Women's participation in sports became more accepted over the course of the 20th century, though women who did not conform to feminine stereotypes sometimes faced prejudice or accusations of homosexuality. Women's physicality in sports became more accepted as
the century proceeded. Women who were not as feminine
faced prejudice as well, and were sometimes termed "homosexual" as a disparaging phrase.
