Objectives:
Students will be able to learn that H2O2 decomposes into Oxygen O2 and water H2O
Over a long period, time H2O2 normally decomposes in nature. So, the reaction is
happening however, we just want to speed it up by adding a catalyst to it.
The catalyst is used to accelerate my reaction.
Materials:
1.Hydrogen Peroxide 30%
2.Dish soap
3.Food coloring
4.Potassium iodide
5.Erlenmeyer Flask
Procedure:
1.Pour 120 ml of Hydrogen Peroxide into the Erlenmeyer flask.
2.Pour a little bit of dish soap so we can see the reaction better.
3.Give it a quick mix.
4.Add food coloring
5.Pour 10 ml of Potassium Iodide KI in the flask. (Be careful, the reaction is too fast you
have to pour the catalyst and move out as fast as you can)
