START-UP SEED STAGE
Seed funding is the first official equity funding stage. It typically represents the first official money that a
business venture or enterprise raises. Some companies never extend beyond seed funding into Series A
rounds or beyond. You can think of the "seed" funding as part of an analogy for planting a tree.
DEVELOPMENT STAGE
Development stage refers to the first phase in the life cycle of a new business. During the development stage,
companies focus on establishing themselves through activities such as market research, product development,
and the construction of new manufacturing facilities.
SALE STAGE
a sales stage is simply a status marker that shows the level of engagement a prospect has had with your sales
team. These stages are the cornerstones of a reliable sales process and, by extension, an indispensable
foundation for every sales team.
EXPANSION STAGE
From a more detailed perspective, expansion stage is the stage in a company’s development that starts when
a company can add customer development resources (most of the time this means adding sales and/or
marketing resources) and be confident that the additional resources will result in predictable top line revenue
gain and long term value (that is, you can get a large enough economic result for each additional unit cost
added to customer development activities).
LIQUIDITY STAGE
The liquidation of a company is when the company's assets are sold and the company ceases operations and
is deregistered. The assets are sold to pay back various claimants, such as creditors and shareholders. The
liquidation process happens when a company is insolvent; it can no longer meet its financial obligations.
CASHING-OUT STAGE

DEBT FINANCING
When a company borrows money to be paid back at a future date with interest. It could be in the form of a
secured as well as an unsecured loan. A firm takes up a loan to either finance a working capital or an
acquisition.
