The Imperial Academy has a long and interesting history. Many kings, emperors and
scholars worked to develop the university. Chu Van An was regarded as one of the most
famous teachers at the Imperial Academy.
In modern time, the Imperial Academy continues to grow and receive recognition.
Many old buildings were reconstructed in 1999. In 2003, four statues (Ly Thanh Tong,
Ly Nhan Tong, Le Thanh Tong, and Chu Van An) were built. In 2010, the 82 Doctors’
stone tablets were recognised by UNESCO.
