Concert
 RATIONALE
Persons with Disabilities (PWDs),
under Republic Act 10524, are
those people who have long-term
physical, mental, intellectual, or
sensory impairments that, when
combined with other barriers,
prevent them from fully and
effectively participating in society on
an equal basis with others. We
cannot dispute that they face many
problems in various facets of their
lives, and their conditions deserve
attention and consideration.
 RATIONALE
In the Philippines, of the 92.1 million household populations in the country,
1.44 million persons, or 1.57 percent had a disability, based on the 2010
Census of Population and Housing (2010 CPH). The recorded figure of
persons with disability (PWD) in the 2000 CPH was 935,551 persons, which
was 1.23 percent of the household population. In 2021, an attached bureau
of the Department of Social Welfare and Development which is the National
Council on Disability Affairs estimates that there are over 1.6 million Filipinos
with disabilities in the country.
RATIONALE
With that, our committee decided to
create "Love in Action for PWDs:
AKBAYan at PaSIYAHAN Concert," a
benefit concert that aims to uplift the
spirits of people with disabilities; that
they have unique stories and that they
matter. It is a benefit concert meant not
only for entertainment and amusement
but also to provide a wide range of
solutions and innovations to PWD
members. Furthermore, it intends to
raise donations for our chosen PWDs
charity, such as medical and livelihood
support, among other things, in order to
show how they are loved and
appreciated.
