1. Indian and US Navy conduct
exercise 'SALVEX' in Kochi
 The seventh edition of the Indian
Navy – US Navy (IN-USN) Maritime
Rescue and Explosive Ordnance
Disposal (EOD) exercise, ‘SALVEX’
was conducted from 26 Jun – 06 Jul
2023 at Kochi, Kerala.
 IN-USN has been conducting joint
rescue and EOD exercises since
2005. The exercise also involved
ships INS Nirikshak and USNS
Salvar, apart from specialist diving
and EOD teams from both the
navies.

 For 11 days, the diving teams from
both the countries shared
experiences on maritime rescue
and trained together in various
aspects of EOD operations on land
as well as at sea.
 SALVEX
 Under this joint training exercise
was conducted with a view to
enhance interoperability, synergy
and benefit from mutually best
practices in maritime rescue and
EOD operations.
 In addition constructive
engagements on operational terms
enhanced the skill-set of the diving
teams in a wide variety of
disciplines such as mine detection
and neutralisation, wreck location
and rescue.

8. Haryana government started
'Mera Bill Mera Adhikar Yojana'

Services Tax (GST) in Gurugram
district of the state, with the aim of
encouraging taxpayers, Haryana
'Mera Bill Mera Adhikar' scheme'
has been launched. This scheme
has also been started in five states
of the country.
 Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant
Chautala said that Haryana, which
has two per cent of the country's
population, has contributed six per
cent to the central revenue.
 Under this scheme, the consumers
will have to take the bill at the time
of purchase and upload the bill on

the corpus fund. With 'Mera bill
Mera Adhikar' Scheme, consumers

goods and services in the economy.
It is a comprehensive indirect tax
which was introduced in India on
July 1, 2017 through the 101st

excise duty, value added tax (VAT),
service tax, luxury tax etc. It is
essentially a consumption tax and
is levied at the final consumption

9. Bihar started 'Gandak-Ganga
River Link Scheme'
 On June 2023, Bihar's Water
Resources Minister Sanjay Kumar
Jha said that the 'Gandak-Ganga
River Link Scheme' to be started on

1967-68. Its length is about 739
meters. Half of it is in Nepal. It has
52 gates, 18 physical routes, 12
sluices, 8 river sluices, 18 main
regulatory gates.
