JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for dedicated and results driven professionals to join our
Nuclear Environment – Projects’ team in the role of Environmental Advisor.
 
Reporting to the Section Manager, Environment, the Environmental Advisor role offers a unique
opportunity to provide strategic environmental direction. This role is responsible for delivering technical
and consultative services on environmental related matters to nuclear facilities.  We are seeking an
environmental assessment practitioner with applied knowledge in environmental approvals, monitoring
and permitting but not limited to the Impact Assessment Act, Environmental Compliance Approval,
Endangered Species Act, Fisheries Act, Conservations Authorities Act..

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 
Lead or support the preparation of regulatory approval applications, including environmental
assessments and permitting applications.
Conduct technical reviews of environmental assessments for biophysical, physical and human
environments and associated reports;
Support the preparation of regulatory licence application(s) or licensing amendments.
Support the DNNP (Darlington New Nuclear Project) by providing excellent project management
and communication between multiple teams;
Oversee and provide support to contract workers;
Liaise and collaborate with local regulatory agencies (e.g. MOECC, MNRF, DFO, CNSC) to obtain
and influence conditions of routine permits and approvals, regulations, and licenses.
Coordinate information and project communications across OPG, regulator, Indigenous groups,
and stakeholders
Provide support for OPG’s Environmental Regulatory Deliverables and Commitments important to
Project Schedule.
Participate with other project team members, including consultants, in the preparation and
implementation of project execution plans.
Keep abreast of the latest developments in the field of specialty and environmental legislation.
 
 
EDUCATION
4-year university degree in Biology Sciences, Engineering or Environmental Science.
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS

2-4 years relevant work experience providing support in environmental / impact assessment,
approvals, assessments and environmental performance management preferred;
Experience delivering environmental assessments for energy projects, in particular nuclear
projects ;
Experience with project management and coordination of multi disciplinary study teams;
Excellent project management skills with the ability to develop scope of works and execution
strategies; and environmental impacts associated with the industry and related projects; 
Strong verbal communication skills; ability to influence and communicate effectively across the
company and externally at all levels;
Superior writing skills;
Strong analytical, research and problem solving skills, and attention to detail;
Experience working for or with a public regulatory body is an asset;
Strong interpersonal skills as working within a team structure is an essential part of the position;
Hold a valid driver’s license.
