A thorough evaluation of the needs of a school must incorporate opinions of an array of

stakeholders to be effective. A few examples of the other stakeholders are the students, parents,

and community members. All stakeholders should be considered to develop a thorough plan for

enhancing the institution. The faculty and staff at the school are significant stakeholders because

they oversee the everyday operations of the institution. Since students are immediately impacted

by the overall quality of their education, they are also a significant stakeholder group. Whenever

referring to the school's curriculum and the materials needed to improve the learning

environment for learners, they would have a wealth of information.

Parents play a crucial part in this process as the main advocates for the educational

wellbeing of their children. Through their use, you'll be able to have a deeper understanding of

the school's academic position and the needs of the community. In addition, the community is a

significant stakeholder group since they support the school financially and via volunteerism.

They have a lot of knowledge regarding the demands of the community and the academic

achievement of the school. According to the National Policy Board of Educational

Administration (NPBEA) standard 8, leaders should “engage in regular and open two-way

communication with families and the community about the school, students, needs, problems,

and accomplishments.” (2015, p.16)

The purpose of a comprehensive needs assessment is to examine multiple sources of data

to identify the most important academic needs within a school. This data assists schools in

monitoring and assessing the impact of programs and instruction on student achievement.

(Arntzen, n.d.). In completing a comprehensive needs assessment, “the more data collected from

a broad range of sources, the greater the likelihood the committee will accurately respond to the

posted question.” (Sorenson and Goldsmith, 2018, p.99). If emerging trends and patterns are to
be found, it is imperative that the data collected from all stakeholders be analyzed. A

comprehensive plan for improving the learning environment will be developed using this data.

The plan should consider the resources that are accessible as well as the distinctive needs of the

institution. It should be designed to fulfill the needs of the local community as well as improve

the educational outcomes of the school.

Using a wide range of stakeholders gives insight into how different groups of people see

the school. One could focus on various issues that the school is facing, getting different

viewpoints. Therefore, it is essential to include a wide range of stakeholders to consider the data

and produce a favorable in-depth assessment of school needs. The school can benefit greatly

from including stakeholders in the needs assessment process. Getting different viewpoints on the

needs and gaps can improve the relevance, validity, and quality of the data gathered and

analyzed.
