BUILD YOUR PERSONAL BRAND
PORTFOLIO AND GENERATE
INCOME IN THE PROCESS
Pci eo)You made it!
I'm so excited for you!
You're at a stage in your journey where
you're ready to start building your personal
brand portfolio, and that's a big deal.
This guide is designed to show you the
steps to get people in front of your lens and
set you up to make a little cash in the
process
About your guide
Photographers know, your portfolio is your most important marketing asset. It's a
collection of photos showing your potential clients what they would be getting
by booking a shoot with you. Without a portfolio, it's hard to move clients to the
booking stage. Which is what we want, right?
And yet surprisingly, this is where many photographers get stuck on their
journey. They overthink the process, they don't know where to start, or they feel
weird booking a client and charging for something they haven't done before.
That's where a model call comes in. Model calls are a no pressure way to start
building the portfolio, practice your craft and test your process.
www.artofher.comert
What is a model
call?
Model calls help photographers
capture the images they want in
their portfolio.
Model calls are an agreement
between a photographer and a
subject where the photographer
takes images in exchange for
images, products, or payment.
Model calls can also involve time
spent without making money. That's
where the Profitable Portfolio Builder
comes in.
The Profitable Portfolio Builder is a process that makes it possible for you to still
make money while you're building out your portfolio, building out your process
and learning what your clients really want from your shoots.
The Profitable Portfolio Builder is your on the job training in addition to an
amazing tool to create your assets.
This process is designed to help you get your name out there, start building your
list of leads, help you to build your personal branding portfolio, show you what
your business clients really love, and help you perfect your workflow, from posing
to pricing.
Model calls can be a great way to jumpstart your personal branding business,
and a wonderful way to market yourself. That said, | do not recommend using
model calls often. You typically won't attract the high paying clients that will help
your business thrive in the long run, but this is such a wonderful way to get
started.
www.artofher.comThe Steps:
1
. Decide on the details
2. Choose where to advertise (free or paid)
3. The application
4. Communication
5. Test your process
6. Deliver your images with the option for additional
purchases. (in-person sales highly recommended)

the details
Decide what you're offering and
who you're looking for.

Decide on the details
There is no one way to do a model call. You can tweak every bit of this to work
well for your business, but I'm going to give you suggestions that will help you
grow and make a profit at the end of the day.
When it comes to model calls, the devil is in the details. It's vitally important that,
you are crystal clear with the person you choose to photograph what is and isn’t
included in your agreement. SO before we move forward, decide what you'd like
to offer,
Decide who you want to work with, For most new personal brand photographers,
that is business owners. You may already know you want to niche into something
like just shooting realtors or just shooting creatives. If that’s the case, get more
specific so that your portfolio reflects that.
Decide what you're giving them in exchange for their time and a signed model
release. | advise covering the session fee and their choice of 2-10 digital images.
They do not have to purchase ANYTHING if they don't want to beyond what
you're offering, but you want to create images so that they want to purchase
more. It serves you both.
www.artofher.com2.Choose
where to
advertise
Decide where you would like to
post about your model call.
www.artofher.comChoose where to advertise
Now that we have all of your details in place, the next step is to decide where you
would like to advertise your model call. You can use multiple.
* Social Media (business or personal)
+ Email past clients or newsletter.
* Ask friends and connections to share your model call
* Directly offer your model call to a business (Instagram is great for this!)
* Local Facebook Groups with business owners (after getting approval from the
admin).
* Offer it to your Local Business Bureau:
+ Facebook Ads (only if you know how to run ads).

What will your model call look like?
Who you are looking for? What are you wanting to add to your portfolio? If
you already have a portfolio started, feel free to be more specific.
Ex. I'm looking for 2 women owned realtor businesses that need images for
marketing
What are you offering in exchange for your models time? How long will
you shoot, what will they walk away with?
Ex. Session Fee ($650 value) in addition to a gift of 5 free digital images of
their choice.
Where will you be posting about your model call or advertising? This can
be on your personal or business pages.
Ex. On a Facebook group for local businesses and in an email to past clients.

application
Setting up an application process

you're looking for.

The application process
When doing a model calll, you're investing your time and energy in the planning
and execution phase, so it's best to ward off the people that may end up flaking
out on you last minute or wasting your time.
Asking people to apply can often show you who is more serious about booking a
session, or show you who you would prefer to work with.
When people reach out for more information, you can simply shoot them an
email (swipeable copy written below) with the details of the model call and a link
to the form to fill out.
If you don’t have a studio management program like Honeybook or Dubsado
that can handle contact forms for you, use a free program like Google Forms to
put your questions together.
A form looks professional and is not too difficult to set up, but you could also
send a list of questions in an email. Just know that the more professional you
look, the more seriously people will take you, the more invested they will be in
putting effort into the session

Questions
Here are some examples of questions you could add to
your form:
+ Name:
* Email:
* Business Name:
* What does your business do:
+ Have you ever considered getting personal branding
images before?
+ How would marketing images benefit your business
or help your business grow?
+ | understand that this session includes 3 FREE digital
images and any additional images are available for
purchase with a fee.

Phone call conversation
Once you've gotten their questionnaire back and you've come up with some
ideas for their session, get them on a phone call to talk about the logistics.
I can’t script your phone call, but it’s important to take time to listen to lead the
conversation.
This is your portfolio session and you get to determine the parameters, but you
should listen to their feedback on what would work best for their business
Mention again what is included in return for their participation, and again
mention that they can purchase additional digital images if they would like.
Make sure you nail down the location, time and give advice on wardrobe and
props during this call.
www.artofher.com5.Test your
process
This is an excellent opportunity to
test your entire process in a low
pressure environment.
www.artofher.comChe?
Test your Process
During this stage, | highly suggest treating each model
that you've chosen as though they were a paying client.
You can start to test out your process in a low pressure
environment to see if everything is working as it should.
Pull out the questionnaire provided with the Blast Off
Bundle and enter it into your system. Use their
responses to come up with ideas and suggestions for
their session. It may be that you've already decided
which location you'll like in your portfolio, but advise
them on props and wardrobe.
This will be a huge part of your growth!
Although | advise treating your models like they
are your clients, that doesn't mean you need to
shoot a full hour or four hours if that's what you'll
be offering in the future. Make the details work for
you.
Make sure you have your payment processor set up and
your prices in place before you get to the end. You want
to make it easy to pay you if they'd like to purchase
additional images.
