Topic/ Title: The Cost of Smoking

Creators and their tasks

- Luis Enrico Suarez: Editor
- Andrea Beatrice Vaso: Content

Target audience: Smokers who find it hard to quit smoking

Objective: To motivate smokers to quit by showing them the negative long-term effects of
smoking

Key message:
Smoking costs a lot. First, smoking is expensive. These days, one pack of cigarettes is even
more expensive due to sin tax. Still, many people purchase it. This reduces the fraction of their
salary that they can use for basic needs such as food or shelter. Second, smoking can prevent
an individual from living a healthy life since it is known to have harmful long term effects such as
stroke, cancer, and diabetes (which in turn may result in gangrene, amputation, and blindness).
These health complications brought about by smoking also take a lot of money to treat and this
is an economic burden, particularly those who are less fortunate. Lastly, the chronic diseases
that a smoker may develop from years of smoking can eventually lead to death.
