DUE DATE : 30 MAY 2023

INTRODUCTION

Ammonium oxalato vanadate is a complex compound that is composed of ammonium cations,

oxalate anions, and vanadate anions . It has the chemical formula (NH4)2[C2O4]VO3 and belongs
to the family of vanadate salts. This compound is prepared by reacting ammonium oxalate with
vanadium pentoxide, and it is commonly found as a green crystalline solid. Ammonium oxalato
vanadate has various industrial applications, including its use as a catalyst in organic reactions
and its use as an electroplating agent. It is also used in the production of ceramics, glass, and
pigments. In the laboratory, it is used as a reagent in analytical procedures such as the
determination of phosphate ions in solution. The characterization of ammonium oxalato vanadate
is often performed using spectroscopic methods such as Ultraviolet-Visible(UV-Vis)
spectrophotometry and Fourier-transform infrared(FTIR) spectroscopy. These methods provide
information about the electronic and molecular structures of the compound, which are useful in
understanding its properties and applications. In addition, ammonium oxalato vanadate is also
studied for its potential biological activities. Some studies have shown that it has antioxidand and
antitumor properties, making it a promising candidate for further investigation in the field of
medicine. Overall, ammonium oxalato vanadate is useful compound with a wide range of
applications in various industries and laboratories. Its unique properties make it valuable tool for
chemical analyses and a potential candidate for the development of new materials and medicines.

ABSTRACT

A complicated mixture of ammonium, oxalic acid, and vanadium is known as ammonium

oxalato vanadate. Due to its distinct physical and chemical characteristics, particularly in the
areas of electrochemistry and catalysis, this substance has garnered a lot of interest. Due to its
readily available and inexpensive precursors, ammonium oxalato vanadate is a viable choice for
the synthesis of vanadium oxides and vanadium-based catalysts. It is a potential material for both
catalytic reactions and energy storage devices due to its high surface area and chemical stability.
