 Peter was a lorry driver, he lived in Bridgewater. One day he had to

take a lorry full of biscuits to Bristol.
 When he was driving he heard on the radio that in Bristol a midle
aged-man was murder and the police wanted to talk to a sixteen
year old boy.
 Peter reached Bristol al 9 o´clock and saw a boy who was asking for
a lift.
 Peter took the boy.
 The boy´s name was John Stevens and he was running away from
his home.
 He was all wet, he was wearing jeans and a red sweater and he
looked like a sixteen year old boy.
 Peter took John to a café for a cup of tea, to talk to him.

 In the café John told Peter that his parents were dead and that he
lived with his uncle.
 His uncle never let him go out in the evenings or being with his
friends, he wanted him to study all the time.
 One day, John went out to the cinema without the permission ouf
his uncle and when he came back his uncle was so angry that he hit
him very hard on his face and John hit him, too.
 His uncle fell on the floor and never got up.
  John run away for an hour and when he got back home, there were
many policemen in the house and when John saw them he run
away.
 At the café Peter found a newspaper with information about John´s
uncle: he was dead.
 Then Peter and John got in the lorry, to continue the trip until a
policeman stopped them.

 When the police stopped the lorry, they wanted to see if the lost
boy (John) was hidden there, but they couldn´t find him.
 Peter was covered under a big jacket.
 The police said that John´s uncle died because someone hit him
with a chair leg on his head.

 When they arrived to Manchester , Peter went to see some old
friends (criminals) to get information about the murder of John´s
uncle.
 Peter went to a café “Cosy Café” because he wanted to find Jeff
Beck (his old friend), the owner of the place, but someone told him
to leave the place.
 When he left that place and was walking down the Street, someone
caught him, put a knife on his throat and asked him if he really knew
Jeff Beck or if he was from the police.

  As John had to wait for Peter, he went to the cinema.
 Outside the cinema there was a girl and a policeman.
 When John saw that the policeman was walking close to him , he
started talking to Susan and invited her to go to the cinema with
him.
 First Susan said the she couldn´t because she was waiting for her
boyfriend (Steve), but then they went in together.

 The man who was holding the knife on Peter´s throat, put him in a
car and took him to a night club called Cabaret Club.
 Then he took him to a small room, full of smoke where Jeff was.
 Jeff was the owner of the club and he was rich.
 Peter told him Jonh´s story and asked him for help.
 Jeff told him that he had to find the murderer.
 And then Jeff gave Peter information of a person in Bristol who
could help him in Bristol, BOB STEEL : he lives in Bristol and he
knows everything that happens there, he knows more tan the
police.
