Cultural Intelligence
As the time goes by and reality starts to foreshadow, people tend to encounter various
culture differences that is not always about belief, ethnicity and/or nationality. Most especially in
the workplace, it is somehow called multigenerational organization, which group different
people with different cultures that may start a cultural clash if not well understood. Cultural
Intelligence paved its way to avoid mistakes and successfully work in a field where people has
different perception. (Livermore, 2011)
Cultural Differences has expressed in the workplace by the means of National Culture−
how the culture itself molds an individual’s personality and behavior. In the organization, people
tend to get along with their colleague who has the same profession. Unlike overseas
organizational offices, people are segregated according to their nationality and races. Cultural
differences is less important in the field because there is a bigger picture to look at.
Communication, execute of respective task, and build harmonious relationship should be well
given attention. Cultural Intelligence or Cultural Quotient (CQ) is a term used in business,
education, government and academic research. It can be understood as a capability to relayed and
work effectively across cultures. It is about understanding the culture where you truly belong,
how it solidify development, and how multiple sub-cultures are important. Cultural Intelligences
lead its way to break down barriers towards unsolved culture clash. It is a stepping stone to
bridge international influence and developing capabilities to operate globally.
