COILED TUBING POWER PACK PRE-START CHECK

This short presentation summarized what need to be


checked on coiled tubing power pack before starting
the engine prior to the commencement of coiled
tubing operation

MECHANICAL/LUBE SYSTEM
❖Condition & tension of
the fan belts
❖Engine sitting bolts &
nuts
❖Engine oil level/condition
(dip stick)
❖Gear box oil
level/condition
❖Ensure all engine moving
parts are free from any
obstructions
HYDRAULIC SYSTEM
❖Check hydraulic level(sight
glass)
❖Check that hydraulic
suction lines are open
❖Drain any condensation
from hydraulic tank
ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM
❖Check coolant level &
condition
❖Ensure radiator cover is
in place
❖No leakage from the
radiator and cooling
lines
FUEL SYSTEM

❖Check fuel level (sight


glass)
❖Ensure fuel isolation
valve is open
❖Drain water from the
fuel/water separator
(raccor filter) or fuel
tank
PNEUMATIC SYSTEM

❖Drain water/condensate
from the air tank
❖Close the air tank drain
valve
❖Check that starter lube
contains sufficient
lubricant
❖Ensure the regulated air
lubricator contains
sufficient oil and is in
open position
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

❖Check the battery


condition
❖Check the alternator
mounting bolts & nuts
❖Check the condition &
tension of the
alternator driven belt
❖Ensure all the cables are
in good condition
Irrespective of the power pack make or
configuration, it is highly recommended that
you perform the above check prior to the
starting of power pack. The engine pre-start
check is not limited to the mentioned points
above and also, some of the mentioned
checks may not necessarily applicable to all
coiled tubing power pack.
